Prediction #1: Metro 2034 is teased, and later trailed, but sadly won't release until the tentative date of Q2 2012. It is in its plot quite a big departure from the novel, just as Metro 2033 was from its host book, but if '33's adaptation and the criticisms of '34 are anything to go by, this can only be for the best, and everybody is positive about the game.

Prediction #2: Modern Warfare 3 is trailed and launches in the closing months of the year. As expected, its plot carries on from the end of MW2, but the new developers have apparently listened to the criticisms of MW2s plot and have attempted to recapture what made MW1 so great. They don't quite succeed and the game ends up somewhere between MW1 and MW2 in terms of plot, explosions, all that jazz. Reviewers complain that the game doesn't know what it wants to be, the more extreme critics exclaim that it tries to please everyone and thereby pleases no-one. It is a generally enjoyable singleplayer game, but the multi is naturally where it shines for most. It becomes an instant hit with millions, while the so-called "hardcore" crowd shuns it for not living up to their lofty expectations.

Prediction #3: At least one so-called "AAA" title will defy expectations in a positive fashion.

Prediction #4: At least one so-called "AAA" title will defy expectations in a negative fashion.

Prediction #5: No word on GTA V; Rockstar will remain characteristically silent on the project throughout the year, preferring instead to focus its energies on L.A. Noire and any DLC that might be released for it. We won't hear about the game until 2012.

Sony to outsell XBOX360 worldwide for the third successive year with a price drop

Until we see NPD we don't even know if that happened in 2010 :fp:

Yes...because it's all about NPD :fp:

If the gap in December is as big as it was in November then it will shift the balance worldwide, so until we see December we NPD we simply don't know who outsold who worldwide.

Whatever takes your fancy fella. Unfortunately I don't want to derail this thread any further but I still loves ya.

That'll never happen. Edge just doesn't "get" Bethesda games
Morrowind - 6/10
Oblivion - 8/10
Fallout 3 -7/10
Fallout: New Vegas - 6/10 (not by Bethesda but follows the same formula as their games)

Oblivion got an 8?

Let me guess, they moaned about the flaws? No gooseberry fool that a game that expansive (probably the most expansive of all time?) will have flaws.

I predict some news about the next half life game either HL2:ep3 or straight to HL3 but it will be slated for some point in 2012.

Alice: Madness Returns will get cancelled at least for the PC but probably for everything.

Portal 2 to be a slight disappointment

Deus Ex 3(sic) to split the gaming community down the middle, those who played Deus Ex will hate it those who didn't play it will love it.

DN3D to be surprisingly good.

Rage to be very out of date and disappointing.

Skyrim to be a solid title, but easier than Oblivion with less RPG elements.

Mass Effect 3 to slip into 2012.

I'm going with Mass Effect 3 and Doom4 to slip into 2012

Duke Nukem Forever will actually be released and turns out to be quite a hit under the guidance of Gearbox

Deus Ex 3 will split gamers down the middle

Rage will ultimately be a disapointment

Doom 4 doesn't have a release date. Otherwise snap.

LA Noire will be the most important gaming release in years.

3DS will just take all our money.

  • PSP2 to shock everyone with how decent it is - is a moderate success, comparable to early PSP sales.
  • 3DS blows everyone away.
  • *Controversial Opinion Time* Kinect flops - I know it's done well so far, I have one myself, but the more I play it, the more I think it's in trouble. It's just so much effort to play, it's not just having to stand up, it's having to genuinely exert yourself to play the games. This is both a good and a bad thing of course, but I think commercially it will struggle, because ultimately people are pretty lazy. Whilst it is fun, I think even more so than the Wii, people are going to be buying the thing and then never playing it, and in a post-Wii market I think people will be more wary because they'll have had a similar experience with buying a Wii and then hardly using it. That's without taking into account the fact that people have to move all their stuff out of the way to play it, I think to a lot of people it will end up being more effort than it's worth and they'll either trade it in or just not buy any games for it.

I think there's potential for the unit itself to do the numbers, and Microsoft will massage the figures accordingly, but we're going to see a hell of a lot of people using it once or twice and then never again. We certainly won't see many Kinect exclusive games at the top of the charts after first quarter next year.

Also, did anyone notice that despite all the warnings from MS - the thing never actually sold out, it was readily available everywhere from launch right up until now, even the most anti-Microsoft fanboys wouldn't have expected to see that. One more thing - it's very telling that it saw massive reductions in the January sales, I was genuinely shocked to see it for £100 in some places.
  • Move will continue to be a moderate success.
  • Uncharted 3 to be GOTY - Unless Microsoft release a Halo CE remake.

The only thing I am really excited about is the 3DS as it will give the WOW Factor. It will be an amazing year for hardcore gamers though.
