I usually listen to these albums all the way through before putting my score up. On this occasion I shall post it after half a track. 0/10. I thought this was strawberry floating awful. I will leave it at that before I tip myself into a full scale rant on why I loathe this so much.

So how do you download it off Fileserve, then? God knows, I've tried but all I get is popups and other bullshit.

Yeah forgot to say that happened to me when I tried that link too. I ended up getting it from mediafire.

Never had that trouble with Fileserve myself, although I use Firefox with ad-block instead of shite like IE.

A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step 6/10

Again something I wouldn't normally listen to but unlike the last album, nothing really stood out and I wasn't left thinking that I could get into this.

The Alan Parsons Project - Stereotomy - 5

Difficult one this. While I didn't have quite the same reaction as OnlyShallow, you can't help but feel that this is horribly dated. Of course, that's just the nature of 80's music, it hasn't aged as well as, say, 60's stuff. That been said, there were a couple of moments (notably on the funkadelic 'Beaujolais') where I really thought I might get into this. Then along comes a synthesizer instrumental or a horrible ballady thing (Limelight) and makes me hate it again. If I'd got into this when it was released I might be a bit more forgiving about the 80's stylings, but as it is I can't give it any more than a 5. Sorry. :-(

Just out of interest Jay, did you get into these recently, or are you an old man who bought it in the 80's?

Got into them when I was in college. I'm only 23 so I'm not an old git despite feeling like one.

I guess my taste in music is quite varied and a lot of the stuff I listen to is from the 60's-80's but I don't really like much of the music from the mid-90's to now. I guess it's an acquired taste, but the whole point of the album club was to try out new bands or styles of music. I would, however, say not to judge Parsons on this one album as their sound and style changed a lot throughout the years from the 70's to the 90's and featured many a guest musician.

Even if this gets a load of 0's it'll be good to have people recognise Alan Parsons for something other than a throwaway joke in Austin Powers.

Oh absolutely, it'd be terrible if everyone just posted Radiohead or something. I'm probably the opposite to you, I only really listen to more current music, I don't even listen to the older stuff in my own collection ( :fp: ). Fair play to you for picking something a little more 'out there' than most, it wasn't for me personally but I'm sure it'll be someone's cup of tea! :-)

Anyone else had a chance to listen to this yet? What are your thoughts? Is Jay the only person here who likes cheesy 80's power synth prog pop?

Earl? You have any thoughts on it, or any of the other albums chosen so far? Anything reminding you of Peter Gabriel?

The Alan Parsons Project - Stereotomy 6/10

Another album where I don't mind listening to it, but I am not sure if I could ever get into it. I enjoyed a couple of tracks, like Stereotomy, which made me think the whole album would be great but then a couple of naff tracks came along :(

The Alan Parsons Project, Stereotomy - 3/10

Uggh... its horribly 80s, sounds like it could be the soundtrack to some godawful 80s film. At a push the 1st track was sorta ok but other than that it did nothing for me, apart from assault my ears i'm afraid.

I only managed to listen to the first track as something came up, but I quite liked it, all these low scores are making me wary to listen to the whole album though

Will hopefully get a chance to listen to the full album later tonight so will post impressions then.

This thread is constantly dying :(

Although I haven't helped this time as I haven't listened to the latest album :shifty: Just put it on while in work though so will post impressions once it's finshed.

EDIT: This is unbelievably 80s so far  I'm actually quite enjoying it.

And done. Much preferred the first 3 or 4 songs to the rest of the album. I'm not sure if that's because they were actually better or because I was getting bored. Although it did pick up on the final track with the return of Stereotomy 8-)

I can't see myself listening to the whole album again, but I'll almost certainly be downloading Stereotomy when I get home later. Undeniably 80s but it was pretty fun. 6/10

EDIT: Realised the last line was kind of ambiguous :fp: . I mean I'll be downloading that track, not the whole album.

This is exactly what I think of it. The bolded it is pretty much identical to what I said to my missus as soon as I put it on.

I'd give it 2, though. Just really not my thing.

I really want to listen to it because I have the feeling that I'd kinda like it. Is it 80s in a John Carpenter way or more of a Touchstone Pictures way?

Either way, I can't seem to get a hold of it. All the Torrents fail and that Fileserve looks like a nightmare of links designed to fool you into downloading toolbars and shite.

I was in work earlier so listened to it on YouTube. All the albums tracks are on there. Here's the first one:
