Would it be cheating if I did it with a parachute?

 I can imagine that being the best way of dumping someone. Come up with a suicide pact, then just as you're plunging to your deaths - "Laters bitch, LOL" and pull the rip cord for your 'chute

It's ace. strawberry floating ace. Even acer if you're tall, as I'm really not generalising here by saying they're all very tiny; you'll feel like a giant. As far as clean and well-organised cities - Tokyo does have a supposed ban on smoking on the streets (there are big no-smoking signs painted on the pavements everywhere, and I found myself being stared at when I lit up whilst crossing the big mad pedestrian crossing in Shibuya), but you can smoke inside restaurants, bars, and karaoke places. Not much variation in climate at all, but the landscapes are very different to anything we have here. Kyoto is a good example: you can be walking down one of the main roads with all the restaurants on it, and decide to go for a walk up a narrow cobbled road, then find yourself standing in the very-well-preserved remains of an ancient Temple, snuggled right in the middle of a humid, jungle forest.

God, I want to go back.

The forest at the foot of Mt Fuji is where it's at. Well, it was in 2005 when we were there. Our host, Munaharu, creeped us right out on the way to the Amusement Park by telling us that little story as soon as we could see Fuji out of the window. Hanging was the method of choice, I think.

Meh :P It would be worth a try. Plus only the richer better class GRcaders would be able to go ;)

I only know of two groups that have gone to Japan: Alpha and his mate, Aaron and Lewis. One ended with them going their separate ways on most days and the other with one coming home early but the other getting laid.

Having said that, if someone like-minded heads to Japan with you it should be fine. If I go with you, FE, then I want to be Aaron. Although I'm sure we'd end up out-depressing each other with stories of our ex-girlfriends.

Haha, as a big fan of Densha Otoko, I HAVE to find that statue, anyone know where it is?

Cheers everyone, keep the suggestions coming in, anyone know some crazy 'only in japan' type things to do?

the statue is somewhere in West Shinjuku, you should easily be able to find it and since its now nearly the Christmas season, there should be some pretty lighting around it. If you do go, you better take some pictures of it :P

i have thought of another crazy 'only in japan' thing to do, you should totally go to that love hotel which has rooms made so its identical to a train cabin, or if you cant find that, another love hotel with crazy rooms, so you can have some crazy sex that you will always remember  you should, it is 'only in japan' after all

What is summer like in Japan, weather wise? By that, I mean June-September. Me and a mate are planning on going before I go to university. About 5 years ago, when I was an annoying Japanophile, I always thought I'd end up living there. It seems like a place I could spend part of my life though, if only for the fanny. Japanese girls like English guys, yeah?

The thing I've noticed about Japanese girls is they have blurry fannies. Every Jap pr0n film that I've ever seen confirms this.

Cheers, I shall be going to West Shinjuku to find it, pretty sure my gf will know where it is, hoping the xmas lights are all up, I will be taking TONS of pictures and possibly blogging if I get a chance.

Love Hotel sounds crazy, that's going on the list!

Mos Burger is awesome, I got a stamp book last time but didn't fill it, Mos Burger and Mister Donut were my favourite american style fast food places there, Mister Donut was the breakfast shop for us most days.

Aparently, all Japanese porn has to be blured like that or it's illegal to sell it or something like that.

Ok so a bit of an update on the preperation, just ordered £1500 worth of Yen, the woman in the bank was surprised and said, you'll get.... wow that's a lot of Yen! They're all used to people coming in for Euros.

Got to get a few more bits before I go, getting really excited now!

If there's a GRcade Japan trip, chances are i'll be back in Japan when you're going, next year I'm planning on going back a few more times. I think a GRcade Japan trip will be hilarious but it has to be video blogged or something so everyone on the forum can check out your Japanadventures.

I think you have to be lucky... I heard about it a while back but i presume that there has to be some in Tokyo somewhere.

Oh, if you want some fun, try to get asked to leave from a Japanese "All you can eat". I managed to do it at some place in Kyoto that was doing a special christmas day dinner. You could also try to find the most remote vending machine location. The best I found was near Odawara, it was on some back road in the middle of some fields with not a house in sight in any direction.

Freshness Burger is so much better than Mos Burger. Especially the atmosphere inside. The one in Shinjuku felt like a jazz club. It was rather cool.

My third year of my Uni course is in Japan. I can't strawberry floating wait, to be honest. It's going to be so mental.

Also, I went to a love hotel. 8-)

To Aaron and Lewis:

When do you guys book your holiday for last March/April? I'd really like to go at some point next year, which will probably be in the Easter holiday, but whether I can afford to go or not will depend on whether or not I can find myself an internship/job for the summer, which I probably won't know until early next year.

I believe we had it booked from August 2007. Quite far in advance really. Lot's of time to save.
