I wonder how much of the "this game is awesome!" talk can be put down to people wanting others to feel left out. I'm getting a strong impression that that is the case with LittleBigPlanet and when both of these games do ship and anyone has access then we'll see a lot more criticism.

I really want a PC beta code, this game can only be judged when played on PC IMO.

I've been playing the beta about an hour now and I must say i'm enjoying it. The best I was expecting from it and the game was CoD4 with a WWII skin and that's what it is, how that can be a criticism I don't know, you either like WWII or you don't.

The reason it works for me as it does with the QoS multiplayer that I enjoyed last week is that it's a good solid variation on the excellent CoD4 multiplayer. The maps are excellent in this beta. I think the problem is people are expecting it to be better than CoD4 and comparing it to that, I personally don't think that CoD4 multiplayer was improvable upon aside from the ranking up system.

I just can't see myself playing this like I played CoD4...if I want to play CoD4, I'll play CoD4, I don't need another game which is extremely similar to play.

Perhaps its just that its coming too soon after CoD4, its too soon to be playing this again.

I'm finding this far more entertaining than CoD4, but then i've always preferred the World War II setting so i'm biased. The maps are larger and really are excellent and i love the Dogs Of War feature. It looks utterly gorgeous too.

Enjoyed it but after 30 hours of Killzone 2 it seems a bit basic and backward, it plays very much like COD4 as expected. It's obviously a lot better than COD3 and for people who just want more COD4 multiplayer then it's fine, looks nice and plays well.

No son i'm not. The game is gorgeous with Roundhouse being particularly nice. The visuals have clearly been upgraded since CoD4 (although not to a huge extent). Perhaps you have something wrong with your eyesight or perhaps your telly settings aren't optimised. Whatever the reason Hugo, you are clearly very very wrong.

As far as I'm concerned its significantly clearly less good looking than CoD4, looks like they've turned off the lighting effects and downsized the textures significantly.

the former would kill it next to KZ2.. the latter not so much but the lighting seems so well done in KZ2.

See, I am in the camp that I want QOS more than I do COD5. How does it compare?

Ive been playing this all day, have to say im enjoying it. Im a big cod fan, especially cod4. Ive played it constantly since the beta, even when ive got new game's ill stick on cod4 for a few games.
I think this play's differently enough to keep cod4 and play both side by side. What with the war and ctf mode. The dog's reward is pretty stupid but it works well in fairness.
The 5.1 is a lot better in this than in cod4. In cod4 you could hear someone scratching their arse at the other side of the map. It was a nightmare in multi story building's liek in chinatown wher you could hear people outside and on the 3 floor's. In this the sound is muffled if they are behind wall's etc. Its strawberry floating brilliant really. Shot's in distance sound like they are in the distance, unlike cod4.
The spawn points are shite though and the artilary skrike is too weak. Graphics wise I dont think it looks better than cod4, maybe even wortse. Overall im liking it a lot, im not sure if I will end ditching this and staying with cod4 or vice versa but im going to continue playing both for the time being.

They are pretty different. QoS has the third person cover system which gives it more of a Rainbow Six feel and having recognisable levels and modes like golden gun make it very interesting and much more like the classic Goldeneye multiplayer. I really enjoyed QoS but obviously much like this it still has many attributes from CoD4.

No probs! I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed it, I was really expecting much at all beforehand.
