I wonder if it’s partly due to the recent trend of just getting a car on PCP rather than aiming to own it, a bigger, more expensive car will just be worth more after the 3 years of PCP payments than an equivalent Fiesta would.

As I'm getting older I wished I've kept my Fiesta ST (2013) as a collectible car.

Loved that car. A nippy car and the handling was sublime like a go kart. :(

I picked up a Mustang Mach-E last week.

I was really close to trading in my Mustang GT towards it, but at the last minute decided to keep hold of it as a weekend car. And I'm so glad I did! The Mach E is.. fine.. as an every day car, but it doesn't come anywhere near the fun of driving a petrol mustang.

Also, massive credit to Ford. I ordered at the start of the year, and I knew the price had rocketed since then. I just assumed when I collected they would charge me the "today price" and was prepared for that. Instead, they charged me the price it was when I ordered and even said if I wanted finance, they would honour the APR that was offered at the start of the year which was 2.8%!

Maybe that sounds obvious, but I was speaking to other manufacturers at the same time as I placed this order, and they explicitly said that placing an order did not guarantee I'd pay the current price and would need to be able to pay the price at the point of sale.

You would have imagined a little more enthusiasm when talking about your brand new £50k+ wagon.

But also the ford boss is very into suvs and not at all interested in saloons or hatchbacks - bearing in mind ford make the bulk of their cash in high margin trucks etc

I will never forgive Nissan for making the Qashqai and ruining the car market with shitty cars that are good at nothing except carting your hellspawn to school.

My brother bought a Qashqai, in purple of all colours. I referred to it as "The Faboulosmobile" the entire time which wound him up constantly :slol:

Not that I’d probably get one, but I do think the recent Ford Puma is the least offensive of the recent SUV trend that don’t really fill a purpose.

I quite like the look of the new Toyota Crown. No idea if it will be sold in the UK, though.

Car designers these days need a good slap for what they're doing with front grilles. Look at the hideous new Lexus LX 600.

My dad has been quoted £1,300 for a dealer service.
And I thought Mercedes quoting me £600 was bad :dread:

I've got a big screw embedded in my tyre, hanging out at the garage to see if they can fix it, ffs.

Feels to me like they’re making the issue worse for themselves/us by making bigger and bigger cars so the grille just has to get bigger and bigger along with the rest. I find it boggling that so many manufacturers seem to be focusing on the bigger cars rather than the smaller ones in their range and making those more eco friendly (well as eco friendly as a car can be). Of course there’s a market for people who genuinely need a bigger car or a 4x4 but the majority who buy them could probably get by with something a bit smaller.

It's because apparently in China big grilles are a sign of status, so everyone is slapping them on their cars to try to appeal to that market. BMW are getting frankly ridiculous with it.

I just saw Audi’s Christmas advert (which is a strange thing for a car manufacturer to do). It only features a driverless concept car, along with an on-screen message that it’s not available to buy. I suppose they might as well put that car in the ad, rather than any of the other models they’re equally unable to deliver to customers.

The GrandSphere. Even more insane.
