It's definitely worth trying if you're into "daily life"-type games. If you've got a gaming backlog at the mo', though, yeah, maybe wait until it launches as free-to-start next year :-).

I had it in my head it was early access now anyway :fp: I’ll see how my gaming time is next year then! Having loved Animal Crossing it’s probably got enough there to at least try though.

Progress is going very smoothly for me. Opened up some areas, got a few more characters in the valley, and found myself with most of the starting characters now getting very close to maximum level. Gardening - even if you don't choose it as their hang out perk - is a heck of an easy way of levelling.

Nice going, Rula. I got three characters up to level 5 today and that meant I could open my first additional area... the beach. I found a boat in it but there wasn't (yet?) a character in it.

For those folk who picked this up at launch on Switch, play times are now appearing. I've clocked up ten hours so far whilst a certain Mr. D Rula has substantially more :toot: . I've progressed to opening up the blocked cave on the beach and now I need to track down some specific gems - I dunno which ones - to unlock the first door.

I also just gained the Lightning McQueen jacket and it looks pretty rad 8-) .

I have no idea how long I've got on it. I just know that it's certainly got its hooks into me. All but the Forgotten Lands opened, with reconstruction of the plaza going well. Although I think this will be a temporary reconstruction while I sort out the other starting area. Then I can really get to work.

It is great, isn't it? It sounds like you're a fair way ahead of me right now. I just read last night that you can move houses/buildings at no cost and whenever you want; that's a nice improvement over Animal Crossing!

if you think abut it, in AC you're basically getting a house in exchange for stuff you found on the ground

Oh, wow. That is a lot of playtime. And there's likely to be more than double that coming.

The ability to move things exactly where you want them (and for free) is certainly a nice feature. It can be a bit finnicky - especially when it comes to paths, but otherwise a great editing tool.

My misses has played a lot more of it than me, in fact she has just restarted it from scratch ,before this she had all the characters you could get and had completed all available quests, so wanted to do it again rather than wait for more content....

As for me well I have id say 2 3rds of the available characters and I am doing pretty well, I am doing a lot of farming and have paid for a fair bunch of things to be upgraded.

Im playing on the PC using Gamepass and she's playing on the switch

kerr, nice to read that both yourself and Mrs kerr are totally into Dreamlight!

I read earlier that over one million people have already tried the game. Hopefully the game will remain addictive and be expanded over the next few years.

I played bit of the game and when I don't dislike it, it very feels like mobile game turned into full game (Gameloft appearing put the fear into my soul) and it's bit slow at start. Chugs at places, does this actually play ok on Switch? I'm playing on Xbox One X due to Gamepass (which is probably only reason I'm trying it, don't think I'd want to get it for full price).

Nice going, Farmer kerr! It's neat how your character reflects your appearance, dude :-). As you say, there sure is a lot to do in the game and it seems that they're gonna be adding more content with new area and tasks.

I don't get the point of the energy meter at all.

At first I thought "Oh I get it, that'll be the whole recharges slowly over time or you can pay to recharge it sooner because the game will be free to play when it releases fully", but it recharges fully the instant you re-enter your house. And then you can re-charge it with food, but the game just throws food at you with things like Apple trees that re-grow insanely fast, so it feels like you'd have to go absolutely out of your way to actually run out of food. It feels like the energy meter only exists to justify the existence of the cooking mechanic....which in turn only seems to exist to justify the energy bar.
