The pipboy symbol in those pictures seems to be a touch too excited at all that gore.

Hands On Previews

IGN - PS3 Version Hands On

While this was the first time that I'd seen the PS3 version at a press event, the title ran beautifully. The visuals were sharp and well designed, and the framerate was quite solid and seamless. In fact, there were only a few moments where the game slowed down, and that was only after some significant explosions rocked the screen. There were a few other visual glitches, but it was easily understandable given that the build that we played was still an early pre-alpha build. Finally, although the build didn't have any trophies and focused solely on the single player experience instead of the downloadable content coming on the 360, we were told that these elements could potentially be grandfathered into the title with future patches if the demand for these items is high and it's easy to add for the development team.

I hated Morrowind. Not so yay.

I'll be getting it anyway though. Staying away from info, vids anything that could make the game more fresh so hopefully there will be some nice surprises when I play it. :)

Ok. I can only buy ONE game out of this and Fable 2.

I loved Oblivion, but hated Morrowind. I thought the first Fable was alright but short.

For people who are up to date with gaming knowledge should I get this (I'm looking for a bit of longevity and some good combat/RPG elements) or Fable? I've seen videos and pictures of each and they both look lovely, but I can only afford one because I'm saving to move out.

Tough choice! I expect Fallout 3 will be longer, both in terms of the main story and the side-quest stuff. Combat could come down to personal preference, they do appear to be very different in that respect. Both will definitely fill your RPG needs.
What did you hate about Morrowind and love about Oblivion?

Mega pumped for the game, it is also likely ps3 gamers will get the 'exclusive' dlc now which is nice.

Fallout does seem like it's going to be longer, and the story strikes me as Bioshock-like, especially with the icons and so on. And I liked Bioshock!

I'm leaning towards Fallout now to be honest, it seems more in depth (number crunching) than Fable might be and since I won't be buying as many games I need one with some meat on it.

Regarding Morrowind and Oblivion, I never 'felt' the story in Morrowind and it never gripped me (and those bloody loading times), whereas I thought Oblivion had a good story line backed up by a massive world to play in, interesting side quests and some great moments that you create yourself.

I think it's going to be Fallout 3 for me!

Well you might be interested to know then that the guy who wrote the Dark Brotherhood quests in Oblivion is lead writer and lead designer on Fallout 3. He also previously worked for Looking Glass Studios, where he worked on Thief: The Dark Project and was a designer on Thief 2.
That bodes well IMO.

Fable 2 might end up having a great story too though, as that was one of Lionhead's big focus points for the game. In Molyneux's words, they've set out to tell "the greatest story ever told". It'll be interesting to see what it turns out to be like.

As I said, it's a tricky one! :)

Those two points were all you needed to say really. Thief: TDP is in my top 5 best ever games, and the Dark Brotherhood section was the best sidequest in Oblivion (IMO). Sold.

Hype x 10! :D

Looking forward to passing the cold winter with this game now! Cheers Garthy.

No problem! Thief is one of my favourite games of all time too, a few of those guys went on to work on BioShock as well funnily enough (including Ken Levine). I think you can really see parts of BioShock and Oblivion that have been influenced by what they did in Thief.

Excellent. They were the stand out quests in Oblivion.

Wow, as hyped and excited by this game - those facts about thief (one of the greatest and most overlooked franchise ever imo) and the DB storyline from Oblivion just makes this more emmesnse.

I really cannot strawberry floating wait for this :D

I'm really looking forward to this. I do like a good RPG.

I've never played a Fallout game before though. Would I be right in thinking that this will provide an experience half way between Oblivion and Bioshock?

Buy the Fallout Collection. It's around £6-£7 in HMV and contains the first two excellent games.
