tekken, all the tekkens, they all suck. no skill, too slow boring, compare tekken 1 on the ps1 to virtua on on the saturn or smash bro's on the n64 and i just laughed at them, its gooseberry fool.

Halo and Call of Duty.

Check out my YouTube channel!

I'm made no secret of the hate I have for Call of Duty, with the singleplayer mode being a significant step back even from Doom, and the ranking system and perks of the multiplayer making it impenetrable for anyone who didn't buy the game in week 1.

My one has to be Vagrant Story - which has somehow acclaimed god like status despite actually being crud.

Terrible combat, awful dialogue that is an awkward halfway house between Shakespeare and modern day literature, THAT sodding forest maze, graphics that sometimes are confusing - literally its one redeeming feature is being able to name your created weapons.

Its a less ridiculous game to hate than Half Life 2.

Anyway.

JRPGs. All of them. All complete gooseberry fool. Even the ones that are supposed to be good, are basically just like the ones everyone hates but without completely crippling game systems, sorry but just because a game isn't completely unplayable doesn't mean its any good.

just not my cup of tea, they all look the same. I could be shown a screenshot of any of them ad wouldn't know which in the series it was from

This is the kind of 'criticism' I'm talking about.

It's never stopped him before, why would it this time?

That's not true though. It's definitely the case with most FPSs, but CoD is far more forgiving in my experience. I only started CoD4 about a year after release, and had no problems getting into it.

To be fair though they are all pretty much the same and as one is gooseberry fool so too are they all. The exception that proves the rule is Grandia. All the others are gooseberry fool. Well strawberry floating gooseberry fool.

Proper crap like.

Well at least I don't like them very much. Mainly because they are gooseberry fool.

Hugo.

Cards on table here, but I'm not a massive fan of the 2D Mario games. I can see why they're so loved, and I greatly admire the craftsmanship, but I much prefer the 3D Marios, and to be completely and utterly honest, I prefer Donkey Kong Jungle Beat and Donkey Kong Country Returns to any 2D Mario game with the possible exception of World. Something about the older games that turns me off. I guess I just prefer the way Mario moves in the 3D games.

Not much I outright hate that people love. I'm not a huge Halo fan, but I am rather fond of ODST and quite liked (some of) Reach. I have a weird relationship with plastic instrument music games, in that once I've finished each song or played through the 'story' mode, I rarely go back to them. Just a time thing, I guess. I'm not a big FPS fan in general, but then I do like Far Cry 2 and Half-Life 2 Episode 2 lots.

Angry Birds is the one game that really gets my goat, but then you already knew that.

No one really loves Angry Birds though. It's just better than the real life situation they're currently trying to ignore.

I'd rather be touched up by a weird bloke on a train than play Angry Birds, though.

Oddly enough I like most of the 2D Marios except for World. Never seen what it is people like about that one. Bros 3 is a much better game.

If you start going down that route, then you may as well go into the same argument that all FPS's are the same gooseberry fool. Far be it from me to say that the genre isn't terribly generic, it is. Labelling them all with the blanket title of "gooseberry fool" is just being silly. Fair enough if you don't like the few you've played.

Games I didn't like though:

Resident Evil 4: Went into this expecting some ground-breaking experience of survival horror. All I got was something horribly dull with painfully restrictive controls. I perservered through the end and was underwhelmed throughout.

Link to the Past: Hailed as the pinnacle of Zeldas by some and while I can appreciate some of it's charm I just didn't like it. There was something dull about exploring the overworld and dungeons that I just can't explain. There were also a couple of occasions where I was left with no idea where to go next.

A lot of people really like Final Fantasy XIII which I think is absolutely awful.

It really isn't the same.

FPS games cover far more ground than JRPGs do. JRPG is a mindset that doesn't change from one title to the next.
