Have you ever bought something expensive and regretted it

I have friends who imo wasted atleast £4000 a year in university for living away from home when their home was only between 20-45 minutes away from campus. And then had to get a bus to uni from halls which took 20 minutes plus some queueing time.
They say to me that its the experience of living away from home that counts but my argument was that you will eventually move out anyway when you get a job after uni. So why not wait until after your studies.

Nah you totally deserve a £200 wallet for saving all that money. Maybe even two.

I got in debt to the sum of around £6000 when I was 19 buying clothes, going on holidays, etc. Best time of my life.

I like doing* and buying nice things so unfortunately they cost quite a bit of money. I think those of you that think £100+ on a coat is expensive are being extremely tight.

I don't think anyone said £100 a cost is too expensive but £200 on a wallet that looks about £10 is something of a shitter

I said a couple of coats I'd bought, each costing £100+ each and that I've only worn a couple of times each, would be something I might consider a regret. But strawberry float, it's my money, I can be tight with it if I want.

Beans, I was mainly meaning people who are flippant with money yet are in no position financially to be so. Yeah, if you're Bill Gates, do what the strawberry float you want. Most people aren't though, and yet are still very careless with money.

Yes £200 on a wallet is a little bit over the top.

I do admit to being a bit daft with money. On Wednesday I went to Tesco to buy an onion and some loo roll, came back with 3 bottles of wine, a mutipack of mars bars, some cinnamon and raison cookies and a fruit salad. Forgot the strawberry floating bog roll

I am disappoint.

I'm not too bad when it comes to buying needless tat but I get instant buyers remorse on anything that costs more than £100 when I'm buying something online.

I don't regret buying it when I have it but for the few days between ordering something and getting it in hand I'm always second guessing myself.

I find it quite hard to spend reasonable sums of money. I get scared if I don't think I'm going to have money available - which in turn has a knock-on effect on purchases. I'm pretty damn sensible - and that Lion King Limited Edition is about the lengths of my 'extravagant' purchases bar important things like my brand new laptop.

Okay so far I can see that a lot of us here feel buyers remorse. Its making me feel a bit better with myself and I have decided from today I will change my ways.

Another thing that makes me feel a bit better is that some people I know gamble away hundreds of pounds. During the world cup someone on my facebook placed a bet that England would win a certain match for which he put about £400 on and then lost it all.

For some reason though I did not regret spending about £1259 on a macbook pro a few years ago. Not even for a nano second.
