Isn't it in First Class as well?

There are a couple of shots with him alone at a bar.

The scene where Rogue realises he's a mutant at the start of the first movie is one.
The cameo in First Class is another.
I'm sure there's at least one more, probably in "The Wolverine", but I can't remember.

I kinda agree actually. Do we need another movie of "MEMBER THIS?" It feels so tired. Like a Prayer remains a banger though.

Why waste Cassandra Nova in a Deadpool film as well?

It's not necessarily a waste, she could easily come back again in later X-Men movies given the fact this seems to be a movie about variants again.

We've wasted Reed, Xavier and Black Bolt too in that respect.

Bored of the multiverse stuff. "This wolverine let down his universe" - SNORE.

Just means you can grab another whenever you want, loses all tension etc. Rest of the stuff looks okay though.

Spoilered for X-men universe spoilers While I'm also over a lot of the multiverse stuff, given they killed him in Logan, they kind of have to use a multiverse Wolverine at this point, no?

Always thought Logan was set in the future maybe, also it's very hard to keep track of what universe is where.

Like in Dr Strange, isn't the alternate universe he sees with the X Men the Fox film universe that HJ's original wolverine - the one from Logan - comes from? What about the wolverine from MCU's universe? Can't we use him?

Anywho, bored of trying to keep track of it all, bored of how it lowers the tension. Was cool to see lots of different spidermen for a bit though.

For better or worse It's Multiverse all the way until Avengers 6 at least so.......

I think at this point people either need to make their peace with that or just sack them off if it really bothers them that much.
Both of which are perfectly valid paths, but I'm almost as bored by the "Multiverse sucks" discourse as I am by the multiverse itself.

Like anything else it's all down to execution. It just so happens that the MCU's execution of it has been "mixed" at best. Though I have some hope it'll get better now that they're refocusing on quality rather than quantity.

Also, how did you think they were going to bring Deadpool and the X-Men into the MCU? It was always going to be a multiverse story.

Well, I guess they could use the Logan Wolverine, but it restricts them storytelling wise. They'd have to pluck him out of his timeline and then return him in one piece for Logan to avoid impacting the continuity.

There isn't a Wolverine in MCU's universe yet and when they do introduce an MCU Wolverine they aren't going to cast a 55 year old Hugh Jackman because they'll want a decade of films out of him.

I'm not super well versed in what is and isn't possible based on where the story/universe is at right now. I'd argue that if you need to resort to multiverse stuff (at this point in the saturation of the zeitgeist) that it's a bit creatively bankrupt.

But hey, looks fun and will make a fuckton of money so hey ho.

I'm not really sure how the multiverse lowers tension. They are comic book movies, if they want to bring back a character then they can at any point with no need of a multiverse to explain it away.

"What's that? Iron Man died? Yeah, but Captain Marvel and Professor X can combine powers and bring the dead back to life!"

"You thought the Earth was destroyed? Nah mate, the newly forged Infinity Stone allows Earth to be fully reconstructed!"

Tbf these things do too, I'm just not a comic fan so don't know this stuff.

I like superhero movies because they're good action films with good characters for the most part, but I'm not a Superhero fan if that makes sense. Very much a casual MCU guy and will go no further than the movies. I think I'm just feeling the burnout from Phase 1-4.

That's fair.

The problem with the MCU is that they've written themselves into a corner with the multiverse to an extent and (Most crucially for me) there has been no consistency to how it has been portrayed and used. It feels a bit slapdash and they've allowed each movie to do it's own thing to an extent which hasn't helped. Their plan for Kang fell flat on it's face as well.

The MV itself is fine as a concept and I do agree with Moggy that it's no more ridiculous or bullshit than anything else in comic book movies. Hell the last two Avengers movies were about fighting a purple spaceman with a magic glove to bring back half the universe.

But as a way to bring the Fox and MCU stuff together while tying into their plans for Avengers 5 and Secret Wars the multiverse will be a key component of that.

As always I think it's not so much that people don't like the multiverse, it's more that people don't like it when it's done poorly which it is more often than not unfortunately.

I'm not a serious fan either. I enjoy MCU superhero movies as escapism, spectacle and fun, but it's beyond me how people get so caught up in the lore of it all. It's mostly nonsense.

Ultimately for me the multiverse is neither good or bad by itself, it all depends what stories/ideas they use. A Wolverine from a different universe is no more ridiculous to me than the very concept of Wolverine himself.

The mummudrai stuff is stupid but she's not been in a bad story. Even the recent Marauders arc is fine at worst.
