Yeah that bit took me ages, in the end I decided to leg it and it worked.
I think thats the only tweak they would need to make for Mirror's Edge 2, focus on the chase aspect of the game. The parts where you're getting chased are awesome and for some reason theres not much of that in this one. The combat parts are ok but require a bit of thinking behind them sometimes.

Ive gone the entire game without killing anyone and was hoping to get the achievement but this bit is just too hard to do unarmed. Ive made it all the way to the ground floor but even if you make it that far, theres 2 or 3 guys down there with machine guns. I may have to restart on easy for that achievement, pain in the ass.
So far tho despite the absolute bollock crushing frustration at times it has been almost thoroughly enjoyable. There are few games out there that make you feel like as much of a solid gold badass as this, when you wallrun at a cop, kick him i nthe face and disarm him all in one swift move its poetry in motion. when it doesnt work however, its improv poetry at open mic night in a jazz club in motion, i.e. gooseberry fool.

It's fairly easy. I was doing that section for hours, trying to run past them all or disarm them. I always got nailed by the first set of 2 guards with MGs on the ground floor. What you want to do is just before you reach the ground floor, drop through the gaps in the wall (running in the middle of the staircase) then do a 180 and leg it to the doors in the middle of the next set of guards. Try that, should make it first time. Don't worry about guards, just run.

You dont have to kill all the guards??
:fp:
I made it down to the revolving door just by strawberry floating running liek hell past everyone, but nothing happened, they all just ran after me and killed me on the ground floor

There may be two sets of doors on the ground floor, I never was able to stay alive long enough to look properly. But I kept trying to run, and was heading for the wall differectly opposite where the stairs end. It wasn't working so I tried disarming guards and still the same, those two guards on the ground floor where making mince meat of me even though I was waiting for them to reload. It turns out that the end of the level is on the opposite side of the room...

I've played 4 chapters so far, It's been great, been playing on Normal going for the no shooting achievement so that I can shoot when I run through on Hard. The platforming mechanics are incredible and I haven't found it frustrating at all thus far.

I thought the whole point of the game was about free running, finding routes through the rooftops and subways of the dystopian cityscape? Not running around from the police and dying a lot

You don't run around, and the game is about free running and finding routes...while you are running from the police. Not exactly a big deal.

Some of the best parts are when you are running away from the police while some of the worst parts are when you have to fight them.

I finished the game (after having no end of bother with the VERY final jump :fp:) and as the screen turned white and the ping of an achievement was heard, the Xbox FROZE on me and I had to hard reset it!  I now have the no enemies shot achievement before the finishing the game one! When I reloaded it, I had to re-do the last jump again before I could get the final 'It's a Wrap' achievement... :fp:

Still, god-damn frustrating controls at the best of times (i.e. I was being cack-handed) and that server room without killing anyone was a bit annoying. Now it's onto doing the speedruns and the TT's. :D

I assume shooting a bullet in that sniper section is allowed? (With the van Kate's in).

Just finished this, really enjoyable, slight more advanced jumping near the end was good, pity there wasn't more of that. I seemed to make the server room harder on myself by assuming all the servers had to be destroyed at first, so there was face palming to be had once I realised that only one per block had to be taken out.

Story-wise it done the job, moved things along, despite there being no real ending, but I'd welcome a squeal with open arms. Just make the combat more fun, it got a little boring bashing the right trigger in tight spots.

Overall a really enjoyable game, 2008's Portal for me, by which I mean it too had one main "mechanic" that worked in a fun, unique way.

I'm having a hard time liking this. It's not a bad game at all but it all seems rather lifeless and contrived. I did expect a bit more personality from the game...I mean everything is placed to provide gameplay but it's too structured, the environment doesn't feel organic.

I dunno, I adored the demo, the reason I got this game, but it's become quite clear that although the idea and execution is spot on it just doesn't excite me as I thought it would.

Taking me a bit of time to get used to the controls on the 360, actually. One of those rare (1st?) FPSs that seems to work much better on the DualShock.

I've just finished it, and was wandering how the hell you'd be able to play the PC version with a mouse and keyboard.

Probably helps if you have a 5 button mouse.

I'm currently trying to complete a chapter a night at the moment and have just complete chaper 5.

And I don't think I've played another game in the last year which has pissed me off as much as this game has, there have been times where I have been so tempted to call it a day and put it up on ebay, but the reason I haven't is because of those good moments where you'll go a few minutes without dying and it flows brilliantly.

It's a shame really as there's a great game there, but it's been buried in a mountain of frustrating moments and terrible combat.

There's no reason though that with all the feedback they get DICE cant create a superb sequel though, just a shame this one feels more like a Beta test for the sequel.

I've had one of those moment where this game really shines...chasing another runner. That felt really bloody good.

I finished it today. It was truly amazing, apart from the very, very end! That bit was so stupidly frustrating.

In the server room, there was a guard who stood in the middle of the junction before the stairs you are meant to escape up. No matter what I did he just refused to move, and the only way past him was to run straight at him. I could never get close enough to touch him before he killed me, so I eventually resorted to just shooting him. So close, but yet so far.

I think I'm at the legendary Mall bit where it's as tough as nails. I can get the pace to wall run and grab the strawberry floating bar.

God this game is so frustrating yet so fluid and compelling when it work.

A little hint...if you are having trouble making a jump...theres probably an easier way to do it.

I really like the sniping sections. Come across one already (not with Kate in a van) and it was ace.

Ha ha, probably. Right after I posted that I worked out how to grab the bar every time but the SWAT team always killed me before I could even shimmy across to line-up my jump. In the end I wasted the SWAT team and did it in my own time.
