Yep, totally.

Got to say, as you elude to, the engine is superb. Years ago, my brother talked about a first person game with actual physics of the character to replicate leaning, etc... Well this has done it and really well too. Looks gorgeous, at times, too.

Has ME2 been announced?

I thought that when the game clicked it was absolutely brilliant but it was let down by some infuriating flaws that seemed to kick your arse at random points. Sometimes you can make the most difficult of jumps and clear a section of jumps/climbs/wall runs perfectly, while other times Eve failed to grasp a ledge or run up a wall because the angle was slightly, slightly off. :x

I really enjoyed how the game is tailored so that you don't have to use the guns but they are there as an option if needed. It's not a FPS nor should it be played like one. The hand to hand combat was good but you do have to have good reactions to really get the most out of it and the same can be said of the free running too. There are times that the level design and free running can be a major chore (the sewers for example) and the game can really test your patience.

The Time Trials and Speed Runs really do test your skills so if the main game annoyed you then I'd avoid them unless you want to get the Trophies/Achievements.

EA should be applauded for even trying something like Mirror's Edge though. I hope there is a sequel with refined controls and a little more variation between levels. It's one of my favourite games of this gen despite the flaws.

I think they should flesh out the hand-to-hand combat (say, by, at least, introducing blocks; this would make it similar to Condemned's combat) and remove the gunplay. Didn't feel right using guns and made the game so strawberry floating easy too.

I'm so hardcore I did the game without using guns on my first playthrough. 8-) Well, apart from when I want to blow up these machine things but I still got the achievement.

I liked Mirrros Edge, it's nice to play something different from 'usual' type of games.

As much as anything else, when it works it's either absolutely exhilarating or a seriously fun platforming challenge. While it's frustrating when you fall, some of the climbing bits (particularly that spiralling bit of scaffolding about 2/3 of the way in) offer massive satisfaction when you complete them.

It's definitely flawed - I don't think even its biggest supporters would deny that - but it's one of the most fascinating games of this generation. Weirdly, despite them seeming perfect for it, I didn't think much of the really abstract levels. Seemed a bit too unforgiving and it wasn't quite as fun to plot a route through. Much better when you've got a semi-realistic environment that you're trying to work your way around. A little more freedom next time would be great. I half-think they could remove combat entirely and still create an exciting parkour experience.

I would have preferred a stealthy approach to the combat. The best thing about the enemies was when you had to run away from them, it gave a cool sense of urgency to the platforming.

Had another quick session on this just now. Up to the bit where...

the snipers are on the rooftops, in Chapter 8 (or 9?).

A relatively :fp: free evening tonight, weren't quite so many frustrating bits. Faith still doesn't grab onto some ledges that she can clearly reach though. :fp:
