Rumour: Mirror's Edge PC Pushed to 2009

Mirror's Edge, DICE's highly anticipated parkour-running first-person action title, may have had its PC version delayed into the calendar year 2009.

Retail websites like GameStop have changed Mirror's Edge's PC release date to early January 2009, Big Download recently noticed. The delay does not appear to affect the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, which retailers have pegged for release this year.

Publisher Electronic Arts' only official word is that the game will arrive in "winter," though representatives from DICE have previously told Shacknews that the PC and console versions would be released simultaneously.

Thank god it's not rumoured to be the console versions and let's hope it stays that way. This is one of the few games I'm really looking forward to before the end of the year.

I'd be more then hsppy to see this slip, what with Fable II and Fallout 3 going to take up the next few months, and after getting quiet interested in this, a release next year would make me get more into it.

Its not the number of games that matters, its how I feel about them.

If there were 10 that I really wanted then I'd still want them as soon as possible.

This, LBP, Gears 2, Prince of Persia and Left 4 Dead.

I see for me it's this, LBP, Valkryia Chronicles, WipEout HD, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Fable II.

Mirror's Edge out for consoles on Nov 14; Demo Before Launch

DICE has today announced that its highly anticipated first-person action title, Mirror's Edge, is to ship for Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 11 in North America and on November 14 across Europe.

As had been previously rumoured, the PC version will not make the November date and will arrive in stores later in the winter.

Prior to the launch of the home console versions, EA will release a playable demo on Xbox 360 Marketplace and PSN. This early peek will feature the prologue of the game including the tutorial and a segment from the single-player story mode. Beginning September 26, players who pre-order the game at selected retailers will receive an exclusive code that unlocks a Time Trial Mode in the demo.

Time Trial challenges players to find the fastest route across the rooftops and streets and upload their times to the Mirror's Edge leaderboards. Friends will be able to download these runs and compete against a ghost.

"Mirror's Edge is bringing something new to the action-adventure genre this holiday by putting the player in the shoes of the hero, seeing what she sees, feeling what she feels," said Owen O'Brien, Senior Producer, DICE. "We wanted to create an entirely new experience, with a different type of heroine and a world that not only looks fresh and new but has unique gameplay."

Pleased there will be a demo as the gameplay trailer off Live looked a bit ropey to me, so I'll try before I buy.

I'm sure there were more 360 games on there last time you listed it.

You've got a PS3 again yep?

i hope the demo isn't that bit of rooftop gameplay we've seen over and over again.

But it will be, won't it.

Considering that is the main point of the game...

I did mean that certain part of the game we've seen being played. It should be some other part of the game, so we can see whether the game is good all over.

Oh good, a demo. I like the style and what DICE are trying to achieve but it's got a lot to prove.

A few friends of mine have played it and all say it's fantastic - and one of them dislikes EA and first person games.
From what I've seen and heard so far, this game looks like it has very little proving to do.

Really looking forward to the demo and the game as it looks so distinctive from the trailers.
