The game definitely isn't a shooter (although it has guns and you can use them), its better to think of it as a platformer from a different perspective that happens to have some guns you can ignore (for the most part) in it.

But there are a lot of situations where you can get your gun off.

At it's best the combat makes you feel like you're Trinity from The Matrix; run along a wall, wall kick the nearest enemy spinning them 180, perform a disarm maneuver and unload a few rounds into their back. If that sounds appealing, lower your expectations a little, and I'm sure you'll like Mirrors Edge.

No Mirror's Edge DLC on Thursday; delayed until February

People who have been waiting for the Time Trial DLC for Digital Illusions' recent first person action game Mirror's Edge will have to wait a bit longer. Big Download has learned via a spokesperson for the game's publisher Electronic Arts that the Time Trial level pack, originally scheduled to be released on Thursday, has been delayed.

According to the statement from the EA spokesperson we contacted, "To offer a completely smooth experience for players, DICE announced today that the DLC map pack for Mirror's Edge on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC will be delayed until February. However, the free exclusive map for PlayStation 3 players will be available to download on January 29 as previously announced. " PC owners of the game will still spend $10 to get the level pack when it is finally released.

Yeah - I'd say it's more of a first person platformer. The shooting is very downplayed.

Playing this right now on the PS3 (2nd playthrough; first was on normal, now I'm playing on easy). Game keeps freezing when I get to a certain area in chapter 6 (Pirandello Kruger). After the bit with the snipers , once you're inside the building. Just freezes, think it happens when it's saving the checkpoint.

And as I type this I'm loading the game up again and... hey, it loads where it froze on me last and everything seems fine.

Sooo.... fine, fine game. Very frustrating at times, but I really like it and can't wait for the sequel.

With regards to the first playground (time trials) I'm trying to 'bunny hop' over the balance beam as I have seen other people do but I just stick to the bar once I land on it. Any advice?

About half way through chapter 7 now, will most likely finish it off tonight.

The one right at the end, before the massive jump to the safe padding?

Try, try, try again...must have put a good few hours in trying to master that.

No its the one right at the start after you go through the first door, before the scaffolding.

Finished this last night, really don't know what all the fuss is about with the difficulty. I went into the game expecting a Ninja Gaiden level of impossibleness and it was nothing over the top, I would almost say it was quite easy. The only part I struggled with for a while was the lobby scene in chapter 9, when I finally got through I do so pulling off my best move of the game. Absolutely loved it.

The fun isn't the difficulty though, it's finding the quickest routes through the levels. Seriously, download some time trail ghosts and if you can keep up with them, you'll see things you would never have thought of! It's really great stuff. I'm not usually into time trials but I love trying to shave seconds of my best times in this game. It's quite addictive once you get into it.

I totally agree, the point I was making that I had heard the game was very difficult thus removing any fun. I specifically remember hearing about a part with snipers that people struggled with, do you know where which part this was?

Nope. I also found it quite easy. Completed in just under 5 hours the day I got it without ever needing to use a gun. And hard was a cake walk. Hardly noticed a difference.

I know I look like a spacker asking this, but I cannot for the life of me, find the new pure time trial pack I bought off live in the game. :fp:  I've gone into Speedrun and even Time Trials, but they're not listed. I've also rebooted the game. Any help would be apprecited!

*edit* - You need to go into the leaderboard option and choose it from there. Obvious place to put them really... :fp: :fp:

I finally bought this last Friday, and finished the story on Sunday. Going through the game without using a gun was a little frustrating at times, but the satisfaction when the achievement unlocked was worth it. I've done a few time trials and speedruns so far, and I'm loving it, and that's coming from someone who's normally not very interested in these kind of things.

Just go onto Time Trials and they are the first 9 levels on the list.

I can't remember what the name of the level is but I just can't past the bit in the loading bay with the guards on the walkways. I run into the office, listen to the message and then whenever I try and get up to the walk way I get killed. Anyone got any tips on how to avoid getting my ass handed to me all the time?
