What has happened here?

The movies are nothing like the TV Series. The series was about a group of people approaching missions with brains and strategy, not Tom Cruise going it alone with big action scenes and a silly plot.

The first film was mildly entertaining, but it wasn't M:I.

I saw an episode of Mission Impossible once. It was strawberry floating awful. There was a cute little dog that had to crawl slowly through a vent, climb up some shelves and steal a picture frame, or something, with no background music or anything. Then take it back to Leonard Nimoy. All that took about 5+ minutes. Then the dog had to take it back again. GAAAAAAHH

I can't really remember much about the first Mission Impossible film. I loved M:I-2 though. :shifty:

Can't remember if I ever saw the third one.

The third one was better than the second.

I'd go so far as to say the third one is the only decent film in the series. 2 is a complete mess and 1 is dull and convoluted as strawberry float.

2 is the best, but 1 is also good. 3 was rubbish.

I still have a lot of love for the first MI, the film just flows nicely with many great bits like the Prague Job, breaking into Langley and the Eurotunnel section. The second is more disjointed but is still a lot of fun while the third was a bit meh. Not sure what to make of the new one going by that trailer.

It looks a lot like Mission Impossible 3-2, if you know what I mean. 3 had a different feel.

Luckily it's also my favourite MI film, so I'll definitely see it.

Tom Cruise is still looking pretty young I must say. Must be aliens or something

MI: 2 is the only film that's ever made me walk out of a cinema. Dougray Scott puts in the worse performance I've ever seen in a major film (and I'm including Marky Mark in the Happening in that) a nigh on incomprehensible story and so much slow-mo as to render the action sequences completely unwatchable. Awful, awful film.

Ooh Oldman definitely looks the part as George Smiley. Can't help feeling that this isn't going to match the 70s TV adaptation though.

I would've thought one of the shots in that TV spot, the bit where the guy uncovers Cap's frozen shield, was going to be the very last shot of the film. Maybe after the credits. Now it's been in a TV spot, maybe there is a fair amount set in the modern day too.

I'm guessing that could be the prologue at the beginning before the film flashes back to the 40's. Set photos have confirmed that (chronologically at least) one of the final scenes in the film is an unfrozen Cap talking to Nick Fury in modern day Times Square.
