This challenge would do me god now I see i've spent £700 this year.

We've a stack of stuff to go back to and can pick up plenty cheap. Need to stop the new releases.

No chance. I'll probably spend less than I did this year but I'll be spending a lot more than £300.

I'm pretty good with my purchases to be honest, haven't tried to keep to a budget and spent around £200 this year.

The best thing is that its been one of the most enjoyable years I have had in ages, haven't bought a game I haven't enjoyed (Tiger Woods on the wii comes close, strawberry floating putting) and got some great bargains.

Mine is to spend more than £100 on games next year.

I too have to cut down the amount I spend on games. Having worked for videogames stores for the past 3 or 4 years of my life, I'm never far away from a cheap game or even the odd promo copy from a rep.

Last full priced title I bought was £49.99 for the Gears 2CE. Worth every penny.

Just got Far Cry 2 and EndWar for £0, which should keep me occupied for a bit.

Skate 2 is out on 23/1. I'd forgotten about that. Must resist until it comes down in price.

God, it's not even New Year and I'm struggling with my challenge!

if the games industry goes into recession next year it will be all your lots fault for going cheap!

I think if we added up everyones total money spent on games on this board it would be a scary amount of money!

I think I will certainly look for more supermarket deals as it seems online is not the way to go anymore, also I love actually going down to the shops and purchasing the game, getting it through the letterbox is just so soulless.

Yeah, same, the sale of the ps3 was the best decision I made and really has got me back into gaming this year, I have not had so much fun since the ps2 days.

Hmm, I think this would be a struggle for me.

I've spent well over £700 this year, and there are plenty of titles I've got an eye on next year (already have Halo Wars, FFXIII, KZ2 and RE5 on pre-order, with Skate 2 to be added as soon as Game put it up).

So long as I can tackle the backlog I have over Christmas I'll be satisfied I've had good value for my money, so that level of spend doesn't really worry me.

Good on you Col, it's about time you managed a bit of restraint in these recessionary times.

I've already adopted the limited spending philosophy and this year bought a handful of new games upon release (Rainbow 6 2, GTA, Fable 2, GRID) for the first two thirds of the year before having a blow out in the last month or two. However, I have taking advantage of a lot of the current offers so I am well stocked up for the next few months. I like the 1 game at a time approach (excluding a couple of live games I play with mates) as I tend to get more enjoyment and value out of each game I play.

In fact, if I take out the cost of any new consoles £300 should be no problem at all. Could be even easier if you also add in games received as gifts for birthday, Xmas etc.

Not sure whether to include DLC in my budget. I spent over £200 combined on Singstar & Rock Band DLC this year so if I did the same in 2009 it'd only leave me with £100 to spend on retail games.

Just sold some of my older games that I've not played for ages to some work colleagues.

I've got a feeling that I'll be able to last the year without spending much. For some reason I've lost a lot of interest in gaming again. I only seem to got on at Wii every few days at the moment to have a quick go on Wii Music and Animal Crossing. My Ps3 and 360 haven't been used for a few days. I seem to recall last Xmas though, I went 3 or 4 weeks without turning my 360 on. Guess it's just the time of year!

Since I first posted in here I've spend at least another £100...think I must be over £2500 for the year now, I won't make £3000 by years end though.

Might try and almost halve my budget for next year down to under £1500, at the moment it doesn't look to be anything like as busy as this year.
