My last minute hopes for tomorrow's conference.

-That Zelda doesn't suck.

-That the 3DS has a release game that really shows off the system (and further down the road, that the 3DS picks up where the DS left off and we don't have to go through that initial 6 months or so of the DS' life where half the developers wait to see if it'll bomb and the other half haven't got a strawberry floating clue what they're doing).

-Retro do the same for Donkey Kong that they did for Metroid, as opposed to using Rare's DK designs/world and making another DK64. DK hasn't been redesigned since DKC, it needs a kick up the arse. This is all assuming the whole Retro/DK rumour is true. If not, then I need to see what they've been working on. And it needs to be awesome.

-Cammie Dunaway unable to attend due to a sudden case of decapitation. Dunawaywith, if you will. Yeah. Death confirmed by vitality sensor.

-That this year's Wii Subtitle doesn't consume 80% of the show, and that despite being aimed at everyone, it holds at least a little appeal to social outcasts like myself.

-A new Paper Mario. You hear me, Nintendo? Paper Mario. If you stick a "Super" in front of that, I will post you every bowel movement I have from now until the day I die in protest.

Hoping for a new Wii with a HDMI port and scaler, like DS Lite to DSi sort of upgrade.

I just hope they go for it and aren't too intimidated by what Kinect has showcased this evening.

Well, as lame as it was, as Press Conferences go, M$ did play on Nintendo's strengths, what was shown was a Nintendo conference in all but name, they even unveiled a shiny little console to go with the motion sensor.

I don't think the casual market will lap Natal up as much as they did the Wii, the 360 is still more expensive and so far it's doing nothing better than what the Wii is.

Natal, and the software created for it, are basically a rip offs of what the Wii was doing 3.5 years ago, hopefully the consumer will realize this and Natal will bomb.

Personally I don't think Nintendo have anything to worry about.

They said that about the PS3 when it was announced. 8-)

There's a video on youtube. Search for Goldeneye Wii 2010. Be quick though, Activision are getting the vids taken down as soon as they go up. Might be real, might not.

It looks shite (come on, really, what did you expect?) and reeks of Activision trying to live off the glory of someone else's work. Still, Goldeneye.

edit: Told you Maf ;)

To be honest I think they've taken entirely the wrong lesson from Nintendo. Do you want to cut dudes into satisfyingly small pieces as a cyborg ninja or play with a sickeningly cute wittle cub? Do you want to shoot aliens in the face before taking off into space or play a bunch of gimmicky minigames with bright colours and zero depth? Nintendo's strength (and note that I'm talking about Nintendo's own releases here - the reason for their success) is trying to appeal to everyone* rather than appeal to one group or the other.

*"Everyone" excludes HD snobs and twelve year olds who think of blood as a sign of mature content.
