Better, the demo was rushed out. It would also run warhead better as well.

Really? The fools on gamefaqs can't seem to make up their mind. I'll probably buy them off steam then.

I found the actual game to run slightly worse than the demo. I'm running a really low setup though.

If the 8400 is better than a 7800, you should be able to run well on low at least.

Alright. I'd rather the game ran fine than looked good.

You should be able to run it fine with that setup Mori, I had the demo running decently on a machine with much lower specs (on Low) a while ago.

I'm playing through the full game (first one) at the moment on the new PC... didn't know what I thought of it at first, but it's really clicked now and I'm absolutely loving it. I've not picked up Warhead yet since I've only just started the first, but that'll be on my list in the new year, no doubt. The fact it looks so ridiculously gorgeous is nice, too.

Athlon 64 (not an X2) 3200
Radeon HD 3650
2gigs Ram DDR 400
Windows XP

I run it on medium settings at 800x600, which is bloody amazing for a 3 year old system with a few tweaks. I'm on Onslaught at the moment though and it is chugging a bit when the fighting gets intense.

As I've said before in this thread, I'm amazed it runs at all. Even though the res is ridiculously low, I still think it looks amazing and it doesn't half play bad either. It has a bit of a dodgy start, long dull patches speckled with ridiculously high concentrations of KPA, but Assault was amazing, far better than any set piece in Halo 3 or even CoD 4.

Well I just finished Warhead and I thought it was strawberry floating fantastic. I never once experienced any hitches or crashes and it run buttery smooth. Stunning looking game too. Far more cohesive and entertaining than the original Crysis (which was also brilliant) and better that a majority of first person shooter games out there. Seriously if this and Crysis was available for console it would be proclaimed as the greatest games ever. It took just over six hours in total and i'll play it again real soon. Great value.

I think thats pretty unlikely.

Crysis is a great game and I'll personally probably think the same of Warhead.

But the reasons that they aren't proclaimed the best games ever, has nothing to do with being PC only.

Half Life 2 was PC only for a pretty long time and it was proclaimed as the best FPS ever long before it came to console.

Just finished the original Crysis and I must say it's one of the best straight up FPSs I've played in a long time, probably since Halo 3. It knocks the socks off CoD 4's singleplayer, there wasn't a single set-piece in the latter's 6 or so hours that came close to any of the major events in Crysis, which took at least twice as long as that to complete.

The much criticised alien sections were nowhere near as bad as I thought they'd be, although they were obviously not as fun as the Koreans to fight. Sort of makes me wonder what it is with Crytek and their shoddy end-game foes; the trigen were God awful in Far Cry and the Crysis aliens were just a bit dull. Still, the last boss was epic in scale if not in innovative gameplay.

Very good. Now...to Warhead.

Getting some technical issues with warhead at the moment, anyone else with 8800 cards experiencing random yet frequent crashes to desktop? Running vista which is DX10 compatible but it utterly kills the frame rate on warhead to run in DX10 far worse then crysis was...I thought warhead was meant to be better optimized??

Putting it into DX9 and the games smooth as butter at enthusiast(very high). The constant and random crashes are annoying though. Thought it could be my drivers but i've got the latest ones installed and not other games moaned yet. Though it might be the laptop then, you know, laptop versions of cards not supported as well blah blah but a few Google searches shows many other having crashes, especially with 8800 cards. needs a patch crytek and soon.

Apparently throughout the game there are several cloaked frogs scattered all about.

Discovering all these frogs unlocks a new cutscene.

I can honestly say I never even noticed one.

In an interesting twist, I've just bought the original Crysis. It's the game I bought my PC to run, last March, but I've been waiting all this time for a price drop.
