Bad Company is one of the best FPSs ever made, right up there with Half Life 2, Halo and Deus Ex.

Surprised Crytek haven't created a Cryengine 2 game for consoles, or licenced their technology to other developers so they could do so.

It really is the best FPS engine out there, it's such a shame that their aiming at such a niche market.

Same! Oh happy days! Going by all the reviews so far this is certainly shaping up to be one of the finest examples of the FPS genre released this year.

1up review = B+

It got a B+ on 1UP, which is about an 8/9 I believe.

Warhead's a clear demonstration that Crytek learned its lessons from Crysis. Sure, it's still got some troubling flaws, but they're not as big as Crysis' "this awesome sandbox game became a corridor shooter." If anything, since this is just an expansion-sized update, it makes me wonder what Crytek will do for its next full game.

The one thing I really hated about Crysis is that it ended.

I know that sounds simple, but it felt like it could deliver so much more.

Anyhoo....

Roll on tomorrow.

They are doing exactly that. Crysis: Warhead will be their last ever exclusive PC game.

I swear they said that Crysis would be their last one after the release. It ended up selling quite well I think.

My order was dispathced, just hope i'm not disapointed with it like I was with the full game (ie: more actual gameplay and a more variety on the actual enemies please)

They are working on Cryengine 2...however its going to be for the next generation of consoles, not this one.

I finally got my comp back up and running with a few upgrades (thanks to Green Gecko!) and decided to try the demo of Crysis. I was absolutely amazed that it runs smooth as silk on medium settings (albeit on 800x600 resolution  ). Still, it looks absolutely amazing and plays much better than I expected after some of the reviews. Definite buy, now I know it runs well and I hear the expansion runs even better than it's daddy. Marvellous.

Well, I only upgraded the GPU and RAM on a +3year old system so it now stands at 2gigs of DDR 400, Athlon 64 3200 and a Radeon HD 3650 (at an upgrade cost of around £100). I'm amazed that I can run Crysis at all, let alone run it at 30+ FPS. I tried running it at 1024x768 and it works fine, but I chose the extra few frames per second over a slight graphical improvement. Anyway, at the moment me = happy+surprised.

The demo runs like crap compared to the full game as well.

Decided to go and buy Crysis from GAME today - at £19.99 it was hard to resist . I'm amazed at how well it runs , heck I couldn't even play on low in the demo and I can now run at high settings with the full game ( can't get ultra high as my GFX card is DX9 :fp: )

Its not really worth it even with a DX10 card, you aren't missing all that much.

Is [the original] Crysis worth a look then? Quite a few forumites seemed a bit disappointed with it.

I'm about to receive delivery of a PC that should be able to run Crysis at a "fair old lick".

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Crysis is a very good game in its own right, the hype surrounding the tech behind it, the engine and 'those graphics' almost swamped the fact theres actually a very playable shooter underneath it all too.

For a game thats so demanding on modern hardware setups (arguably less so today) that emphasis on lush jungles, beautiful jungles and massive explosions is really just a small plus to the games more subtle deep mechanics. Its entirely about the suit, to be more specific the nano suit makes the game-play as open natured as the world you play in. Allowing for various methods of play to approach your objectives, from brute, super hero strength, ultra fast speed, invisible cloaks and bullet sponge armour. Each suit mechanic can only be used for a certain period of time with prolonged periods (or weapon damage in the case of armour) draining the suits Shields. When used in conjunction with other skills, quickly on the fly by the player the full wealth of play styles becomes the games strongest point. Pacing between encounters of enemies, use of structures, vehicles and a frankly wonderful soundtrack all add up to an excellent package. I personally didn't mind the much debated aliens showing up either, their stay was a brief one and along with the dramatic change in environment they bring about a nice change of style for the player.

for people wanting to play it at 'very high' without DX10 or vista this hack should work a treat:
http://www.ngohq.com/news/12492-crysis- ... -hack.html

I use it myself even though i have dx10 cards and vista but find dx9 mode far more forgiving on the frame rate, it allows me to play the game at the frankly silly res of 1920X1200 and even stick 2XAA on, something that would kill the FR in dx10 mode.
