I'm about to receive delivery of a PC that should be able to run Crysis at a "fair old lick".

It's definitely worth it, it's my favorite FPS ever for sure. I didn't even mind the aliens. I'm tempted to buy it again.

Ooooh, now that is nice to hear. I might even attempt some AA then! I feel all flash and hip.

Wouldn't bother. The engine doesn't handle AA particularly well.

wierd, theres no 1680x1050 resolution to select from.... I'll try installing the latest nvidia driver later, but i had no trouble getting 1680 on the original crysis with the very same driver.

as for specs: q6600, 2gb ram, 8800gt 512mb - running at 1920x1200 on gamer setting (theyve renamed high and very high to gamer and enthusiast) no AA(2x was unplayable) and it runs fairly smoothly, little choppy tho, would like to get the res down to 1680x1050 - thatd be the same as what i was running crysis at, so its fair to say the engine isn't really optimised much if at all.

as for the game itself.... its amazingly good! psycho is damn cool and the 3rd person cinematics really adds a lot to it. been playing it for the last 2 hours and that has just flown by.

mrsharpshooter, 2GB is indeed fine, thank you very much

If you want to you can add 1680x1050 in the nvidia control panel

When I had AA on , the game ran like a slideshow on my computer .

did that, just zoomed in. I think its probably a problem due to me using a HDMI cable instead on DVI, thats all i can think of. I'll test that theory when eventually, right now i can really be bothered, runs ok at 1920

The game comes on 2 DVDs, but I only used the first one for the installation...

What's the second for?

I ordered this and the new stalker one from Game online yesterday morning, used a £3 off code from on here, and only the stalker one has arrived so far.

(Bloody new Postie !!)

As to the two disk thing, isn't one the new game and the other the new online "Crysis Wars" freebie ?

Please correct me as I may be wrong !

You are indeed correct about one disk being the single player game and the other being Crysis Wars. My copy never arrived from Game either the useless strawberry floaters! I couldn't wait so I've just bought it from Steam and i'll send the one from Game back. Guaranteed on day of release my arse! Anyway I just chose the single player game to download right now and that was around 6 and a half gig. It going bloody slow though.

Just tried a demo of the original crysis for the first time. It was alright, ran fine on medium settings.

Waaaaaaaaaaait.

One negative review of a game that's getting 9's around the net right now and it's out of the race for fps of the year? If we're taking reviews into account, it's better than Bad Company then, Metacritic wise.

But this is exactly the reason metacritic is completely useless.

Not all reviews are created equal.

The ones that are giving the 9s 'around the net right now' are generally speaking from places that just don't count.

Whereas PCGamer is a pretty respected source, you might not agree with everything they say, but that doesn't change the facts.

And yes it would be hugely surprising if a game that PCGamer gave 60% ended up being 'FPS of the year', only a moron wouldn't agree with that.
