Did anyone else notice how reserved Miami was compared to the first few years? No spectacle, ridiculous motorcades, stupid helmets. It just seemed a bit more measured and thought out.
Felt more like a normal circuit. At least what I saw anyway. I might have missed stuff earlier.

I guess Vegas is where the big flash is these days though.

For sure there wasn't any thing that really stood out except using mini mokes to ferry the drivers to the podium and no Shaq or Willy T Ribbs doing interviews

Sounds like I’m in for a good race when I get round to watching it later, Lando finally getting his win :datass:

Can’t help but feel this was setup issues for Red Bull, but at least shows they are definitely beatable every so often, still think the WCC and WDC is theirs to lose though.

Amazing result. Great to see a cat pull away from Max on merit. It's easy to call it a lucky SC, but Lando was faster on used mediums than Max on new hards which allowed him to go long and create that opportunity. Just a bit of a shame the track is dire.

Also really heartwarming to see all the other drivers congratulating him and the McLaren crew. Super classy.

Incredible result!! :toot:

Been waiting years for Lando to win and it finally happened. Glad I wasn't spoiled on the result, it felt unlikely at the start but more.and more possible as the race went on.

The SC was lucky but Lando was already doing fastest laps on older tyres at that point. With 20 laps to go and Verstappen right behind him I would have settled for second, the win still seemed a long shot, but he did it!!

Miami really is a boring track. The location and setting is fine but the track needs sorting. Overtaking is far too difficult. If the safety car didn't happen then Lando despite being the fastest on the track would have struggled to getting him back up through the pack after he would have pitted under normal conditions. He would not have out dragged Max in the straights which is where the overtaking was.

F1 & its drivers do rather live inside their own bubble, so I'm not really that surprised.

Good for the sport though to have a different winner. He was unlucky 2 or 3 seasons back to lose out to Hamilton in that wet race (can't remember which one).

He had to say that though, if Trump was a guest of the team then he could hardly start slagging the guy off regardless of his personal thoughts.

It's like when the drivers had to greet Putin after the races in Russia, they had no choice but to be polite.

I don't know...... saying it was nice to meet someone is one thing (even if you don't mean it), saying it's an honour makes it sound like he's taking the piss (which he could well have been) or genuinely thought that way, no idea if he said it on video or not, so not sure how it actually said.

Just watching this now anyway, did Verstappen get damage from the cone? He wasn’t pulling away at speed like we’ve depressingly seen in every other race this year, but his pace definitely wasn’t the same afterwards, still, a new winner is always good to see. Norris and Piastri definitely having the better tyre wear at this point in the race (lap 25).

Edit, Norris got slightly lucky with the SC, although his pace was still excellent even on old mediums, great to see him finally take his chance after all these years, aced the restart too :datass:

Edit 2, Gutting for Piastri as well, this has been the best race of the season, but that was a very, very low bar to start with, good to see Tsunoda actually starting to be more consistent, bit worrying that Williams said this track would suit them more, only for them to look terrible

Looking forward to Imola, where I actually get to watch the GP live, though I can sadly see Red Bull will be back :(

But then ask what the strawberry float Zac was thinking having that bum squirrel as a guest?

Sounds like it was put on them by the FIA/Liberty Media.

They have to meet and greet all the local princes and Putin's, so I guess this is no different. Probably feels more sour as it's closer to home.
