I've got zero physical PS5 games

And zero digital PS5 games

I'm living the next gen dream!

My PS4 collection is probably about 90% digital - I've got 2 physical games: FFVII Remake and Spider-Man

Relatedly: I still think PS5 boxes are the worst looking PS game boxes yet with their white labels. At least they match the worst looking console ;)

From humble beginnings grow great collections, jiggles! And, to be fair, you have two crackers already.

Crikey, and I thought that I'd had a slow start, Jen! Even so, hopefully you can play a number of your PS4 games at a better tech quality and maybe even upgrade a few of 'em to the PS5 version.

Orange! *Really*, dude? I love the white panel and I kinda think that I may have preferred to see white cases used, too.

... :o . I think the design is a bit divisive and I can see why some folk may not like it. I wasn't sure at first but it has really grown on me. It's fresh and flamboyant; those slinky lines look great - especially when the console is set horizontally. IMHO :toot: .

They would probably look better if either the boxes were black rather than blue.

I think the 2 disc games vs the 45 or so digital games has already killed the idea of my PS5 collection going physical.

The PS5 boxes would have looked infinitely better had they been white to match the label.

Yeah basically, the blue and white just don't go together. I like the white spines on PS2/PS3/PSP, but they had a black banner which contrasted well.

The console look itself just hasn't grown on me at all. It's still far too big, it still looks more like an oversized router or set top box than a games console, and I still wish it had black face plates.

The controller feel definitely has grown on me though! They are very comfortable.

It's not yet clear what has been updated to account for the weight loss, but I'd suspect that the PS5 console (disc version) would see some sort of weight reduction if the digital version has?

Is this in any way related to supply issues rather than a design issue so soon into the launch?

It is an oddity; 300g is a fair amount so you'd assume there have been some reasonably substantial changes. I suspect we'll have to wait for more detail until someone gets hold of the revised model.

And now PushSquare has reported that a new model of the disc console has launched in Australia... with the console being "3.6kg" lighter. I believe this is a reporting mistake and the new console weighs 3.6kg as a whole; the original model weighed 3.9kg. It'll be interesting to discover what Sony has done to reduce the weight by 300g.

Fake edit: Some reports indicate that these weights are for the digital version, not the disc version. We'll have to - ahem - wait for clarity.

Edit: Yeah, the disc version originally weighed 4.5kg. Hmmn... guess we'll get accurate details soon.

Sony seem to love their revisions, going all the way back to the original PS1, far more than MS and Nintendo. Sometimes they're really minor (like how on the OG PS1 the buttons went from POWER and OPEN to symbols) and other times it's substantial (the PS3 phat going to gooseberry fool after about 6 months of launching in the UK). It's like they're always faffing about (like your Mum...) before they even get to the major redesign phase.

Still, it'll be easier to lug home from GAME (as in the shop GAME).

I only played two physical games.

Miles Morales (from my friend and gave it back)
Ratchet and clank bought second hand for 40 Euro, finished and sold at 30

The high pricing is definitely a factor

The only physical PS5 discs I have at the moment are Hitman 3 and Watch Dogs Legion as once I've finished I sell them on.

So far I've had Call of Duty, Sackboy, DIRT 5 and Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart on disc.

I had Wreckfest but that came out on PS Plus so I dumped that, and FFVII is the PS4 steelbook version.

Loads of games I still want to play this year as well, such as WRC9 and 10, The Pathless, Spider Man Miles Morales Ultimate Ed, Control, COD Vanguard, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Kena, Tony Hawks 5...amazes me when I see people on social media and in comments pages saying there's nothing to play. I mean seriously?

I only bought MM physically as I wanted to have something instantly playable when the console arrived. Everything else has been digital.

That's a bit harsh on Astrobot.

I think people just mean ps5 exclusive games. I definitely have more unplayed games than I have completed games in my ps4 library

I've got zero PS5 titles at the moment, the launch prices have put me off massively despite wanting to own Ratchet and Clank and Returnal I'm waiting until they're sub £50 before picking them up.

However I've missed out on a huge collection of PS4 titles from being away from games the last few years so happily playing through them at the moment.

Same with Series X, only paid for Gamepass and that's kept me busy.

Lmao. All those “complaints” about needing a tool (or let’s be honest, a coin) to change the orientation = “ok, here’s a thumbscrew”

Imagine having a console that even needs a stand, and not just being able to stand on it's own :)
