Cheers for the games tips.. to get the topic on a slightly more upbeat note - here's the one's I'm looking into picking up at some point:

Fifa 09 (bundled with PSP)
Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars (bought today)
God Of War: Chains Of Olympus
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Syphon Filter: Logans Shadow
Sega Mega Collection
EA Collection (Road Rash, Desert Strike etc..)
Patapon
Loco Roco 2
Burnout Dominator
Powerstone Collection

I'll also look into some of the others mentioned (Outrun, Ghouls & Ghosts etc..)

Not too fussed about wipeout as have HD on the PS3. Also have Puzzle Quest on 360 so more interested in PSP only titles to begin with.

Are there any others I should look out for? Or should any of the above be took off my list?

EDIT: Will give Ridge Racer 2 a look too then - love arcade racers - cheers Pred! :)

Errr.... The DS was around before the PSP.

Don't bank on him reading that. MCN's formula is something like:

Personally i prefered Burnout Legends to Dominator.

Other games to look at:

Final Fantasy Crisis Core
Gradius Collection
Outrun Coast 2 Coast

3DS: 2509 1604 2939
360: Red 5 Stella
PSN: nik5750

Yes, the PSP was doomed before it even began. It was never a question of if, but when it would fade away into a single shelf in Gamestation.

You're seeing the PSP becoming a victim of widespread piracy. It's just not profitable for most publishers to release games on it.

The figures and shelf space speak for themselves.

It's true that there's probably not that much on the horizon. There's some card game based version of FFXII coming in a year or two, but to be honest you should mostly be interested in the back catalogue. There are so many great games worthy of your attention.

You know it wouldn't surprise me if this was a case with the DS, given how easy it is to pirate on flash cartridges. A lot of critically sound DS games have had mediocre sales, and they tend to be the sort of game aimed at the 'hardcore' market who are more likely to pirate. But more casual friendly stuff like Professor Layton and Brain Training are chart hits.

In other words; if you pirate Bangai-O Spirits, you're worse than Hitler

It's been out for 4 years now. For something "doomed" as you state that sure is a long demise.

Burnout Legends is much better than Dominator, to add my 2 cents. It's an exclusive Burnout too.

And how long has the DS been out? And has that faded away?

Stop kidding yourself. When the PS2, which is 8 years old, gets more shelf space, you know you have problems.

The PSP is only a "failure" when compared to the DS. On it's own, it has sold very well. 41 million units isn't a failure. That's far more than both the GC and Xbox (nearly both put together, actually) sold.

Yeah I have a problem deciding which of my 40+ PSP games to play.

We need to find MCN a new gimmick.

Does anyone use the PSP TV thing (where you can download Sky TV stuff onto the PSP)?

I have Sky at the moment with the movies and sports channels so assume I'll be able to download stuff without an extra subscription much like with the Sky Player on PC? Is that correct or do you have to pay an extra sub to download stuff to the PSP (they can naff off if so).

The official site doesn't seem to give much info other than waffling on about a free months trial.

Past performance is no indicator of future or even present performance. That's like saying the SNES isn't dead because I still have 40 games on it.

PSP is my favourite console right now. I adore the machine. Next year has a few good games like Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, Dissidia Final Fantasy, Resistance Retribution, Final Fantasy XIII Agito, Parasite Eve 3, Phantasy Star Portable(which in Europe is meant to supprt the ADHOC over PS3 mode) and Riff: Everyday Shooter.

I doubt in Japan they are considering packing in the PSP next year just because it has small shelf space in a few shops in England

Ugh. You said the PSP was doomed when the DS came out (4 years ago). I pointed out that in those 4 years I've bought and enjoyed 40+ games. Now you've changed your tune to "it's now doomed" or "it will be doomed in the future".

I agree with you that there isn't much on the horizon (though I seriously doubt you have the slightest clue what's coming up on it) but the PSP isn't a failure in my eyes, and many others.
