So my third xbox just died!

I'm on my second XBox, and I've had this one for around a year and half now, or longer. I reckon it's about due to RRoD on me. I've started watching the lights as I switch it on, thinking 'Is it now? Is it now?'.

I figure it's deliberately holding out until I finally get to have a couple of weeks off over the Xmas break. Yes, I'm pretty sure that's exactly what it's doing.

Nobody should have to go through this kind of torture with a game console.

I do the same.

Especially if it freezes. It was freezing lots of times in the weeks leading up to the RROD so if it freezes I take note to look at the lights on reboot!

Well what happened with mine was this.

Not played for 24 Hours, Switched it on Sunday morning and the fans kicked in straight away which I thought was strange. Played GTA for 2 minutes and got really annoyed with the noice of the fans so reset console. It booted up again with the loud noise of the fans so I thought it may have issues with the game disk so I installed the game to the HDD, while this was going on the fans were going and the xbox was cold!

Once finished I turned off the console and went to the gym and shopping for about 4 hours. When I got back I switched on the console to hear the fans kick in then two red lights started blinking at me. I unplugged everything checked to see if it was hot (it wasnt) then used an airduster into the fans, hocked it all back up and same again. Then I disconnected everything and set it out for the night, tried again this morning and lights!

Anyone used GAME's own warrenty service?

They say they want everything back including the HDD which I really don't want them to have as it has my card details on, my game saves and everything I have purchased from the marketplace.

If it was the RROD I would be able to send it to Microsoft

Well my 3 year warranty has now run out, so I'd either have to pay the £80 charge or buy a new one. If it broke now I think I'd just wait for the 360 Natal.

Sorry, have been reading the thread, just misinterprited what was going on. If you leave it on, does that mean it could / would RROD? Could it be a RROD with the third light broken? i.e. Why not send it off to Microsoft under the RROD warranty and see if they fix it, if they don't they just send it back to you unrepaired, don't they?

The 3 year RROD is for the 3 lights the two lights isnt covered. As I am way pasted the 1 year warranty I have to go with the GAME one.

You can't leave the two red rings on it shuts off

I'm sure that GAME would be understanding with the HDD situation... just explain it plainly simple.

Hand in the machine, and get the new one. Swap hard drive. It surely shouldn't be a problem. But then I'm not an expert on claims from Game.

My point is that your issue sounds like a 3 Ring RLOD issue in that it won't start up. You can send it off and if it isn't a RROD they send it back unrepaird. What have you to loose?

It's GAME's warrenty company you deal with not GAME thierselves

So I switched on my xbox this morning just to check and it booted up as normal and everything seems fine

Now given that I didnt want to send my HDD off to GAME's repairers and if they can't find anything wrong they charge me 15 P&P Do I (A) send it back or (B) hold on and hope it doesn't go again during Moden Warfare and maybe hold on for a 3 red light of death so Microsoft can look at it.

That's how I got rid of the last one traded it in for my elite.

I can manage to turn it on now as long as I don't play any games

How can I get my game saves and Credit card details off my HDD?
