I hate the way Sonic no longer stays in a ball when rolling into the air. Why change that? :?

Yeah I've just noticed that. Seems like a really odd change as you now won't be able to keep up a momentum.

I would guess it's because Sonic spends 90% of his time in the air and if he's in a ball, that's 90% of your playtime in which he's invulnerable to most harm.

Case in point: At 0:44, normally you'd just bounce into these guys. Instead, you're going to have to activate the homing attack to preserve your momentum. I would hazard a guess that this is why Sonic appears to be slower to build up speed, too. To give you that incentive to attempt to preserve your speed.

So played well, it should be extremely speedy.

Watching that felt like a step back in time, but in a sexy way.

Sonic 4 at Comic Con. New build with subtle changes made since the E3 version apparently?

Interesting stuff about the music composition being limited to 8 notes just like the originals.

Notsure if it's true or not but I'm hearing stuff about Casino Street Act 2 and that crappy mine cart stage being completely re-designed?

Presumably at the stage of development in which they were shown, if problems became apparent, then those problems would be addressed.

Never judge a game on its alpha build.

But it wasn't an Alpha build. It was very nearly finished and certainly well past even Beta...

And then they saw how much everyone hated the mine cart and thought "Hmmm, may not be a great idea to release it with that level still in play".

So if we didn't judge the obviously beyond alpha build of the game then the terrible mine cart level would still be in it?

And Sonic's acceleration would still be painfully slow.

I still do not like the "auto pilot" mode they've put in, in the form of the homing attack. Everything else looks great, though, now. Sonic seems much more responsive, and the jumping seems right, again.

Although; "We want to tie in together all the Genesis games, continue the Death Egg Saga". Eurgh.

I didn't realise it was a saga, tbh. Hell, it took me a good few years to realise that the games' plots even tied together!
