Yeah me too, I think it's a scandalous rip-off, but I still want it. I imagine that's the angle SEGA are taking..

Gamesradar review is up. They were very positive about it.

http://www.gamesradar.com/ps3/sonic-the-hedgehog-4-episode-i/review/sonic-the-hedgehog-4-episode-1-review/a-20101008112650143032/g-20090909115153197035

Final part of the review:

A friend on Facebook asked me to sum up the game in one word. It's a tough thing to do. I wouldn't say 'magnificent' – it's still a little too unambitious for that. I certainly wouldn't say 'disappointing', because Sonic Team and DIMPS have done the impossible and managed to make this most critical of Sonic fans love a new Sonic game.

So I'm going to plump for 'deserving'. And I mean that in two ways. It's deserving of your time and your money despite its length. But more importantly, it's deserving of the name 'Sonic The Hedgehog 4'. That was always going to be this game's biggest challenge, but it's succeeded with aplomb.

I'm really hoping the physics are sorted out when I try the demo. I hate that i'll buy it either way because they're putting it out as "Sonic 4". It's just copy and paste from all the other Sonic games, bosses ect.

When is the demo out?

Apparently the iPhone version is essentially the one everyone played at E3, but the others are the newer build.

A means of overcoming Sonic's uncurling in the iPhone version of the game has been found by a player.

Streetballa wrote:Its kinda difficult to do at first but if you remember playing the genesis games and trying to hit the perfect spot in a loop to gain a little speed boost(mind you, this also is in sonic 4); Its kinda like that but you have to find the perfect spot to jump right before you go off a ramp. If done correctly, you'll fly up in the air in a ball. This is also good for speed runs, instead of having to use the homing attack, you can shave off a couple of seconds from your time by bouncing on enemies(like ruby once said).

Do a jump juuust as you leave the ramp or ledge. This guy in the same thread put it best:

You shouldn't have to find ways to make a game do something it should have done in the first place. Physics and homing attack be damned, uncurling is an unforgivable piece of design ineptitude that almost nobody wanted.

It's an absolutely horrendous outcome for people expecting and wanting a game that feels like the golden oldies. I'd love for one journo, just one, to have the balls and backbone to ask why s/he now has to exploit a game bug to play the game the way s/he wants to.

It's not strawberry floating fair. :( :x

My friend saw him in a bar after Eurogamer drinking, alone and depressed looking. I think it's because of Sonic.

Just read the Gamesradar review. I don't think it was ever in doubt that I'd be buying it, but looking forward to it even more now. :)

Yep, Wednesday for 360/PS3 though if you're after the Wii version it's not out til the 15th. Pricing is 1200 MSPs, £9.99 on PSN and 1500 Wii Points.
