It's starting to get genuinely annoying now. So now it's back up at 8.30pm. :fp: I paid for a sub and I can't play the strawberry floating game when I want too as the severs are constantly going down for updates.

Seriously, they need to take a look at their patching process. No MMO maintainance should be taking as long as Bioware schedules. I don't know if this is a side effect of the Hero engine or just how Bioware is implementing things at their end.

Shorter patching times would mean less downtime and the ability to roll out fixes more frequently with a lot less disruption to players. Losing 6-8 hours playtime evertime they want to patch is just ridiculous.

ANyway, looks like the game is just about ready to go again.

So far, I think I've got Degoose added as a friend. I know Dante and Finiarél are on StarStorm 1 as well, but since they're both heretics who insist on using character names with accents I have no idea how to type, I've not added either of them yet.

Who else is on this server?

Yeah the server downtimes are starting to take the piss now, especially when they are always "good" times for the US and absolute shite times for the UK.

Just a straight forward "turnip" for the character name. I'm hoping (probably futilely) to grab "King" as a legacy name.

That video annoys me.

"Rise of the Rakgouls is an epic storyline that we've been working on for a year. The first part comes out now, the second part is coming a little later.

2 parts. OMG

The fact they've put together that video, now, and in an fairly obvious rush (so much "concept art" etc - there's obviously not a lot of progress on these things) suggests to me they're paniced about number of drop outs.

I'm more troubled by the fact that the guy doesn't blink once during that video. he looks either terrified or mental!

Anyway I'm plugging away at this quite slowly, I've done all the side quests and heroic quests so far and I've just got my starship.

Had Monday and Tuesday off work so levelled a Sith Warrior up to Level 19. Kind of pissed off though as I was looking through the vendors and saw a 10K credit helmet on the second planet, just wanted to see what it looked like on me but accidentally bought it rather than previewed it and I'm now skint

Loving the space battles though, yeah they're on the rails but I find them quite fun and simple to just log in and randomly run one for 5 mins. Good amount of EXP and credits for doing them too.

The space battles leave me a feeling like I'm not involved at all. I sort of casually click on things, but I'm not sure if I'm having much of an effect on how it plays out at all.

Really I'm always click through taking down all the ships and objectives, locking on missles, etc.

It's probably the easiest thing in the game and like I said easy XP especially with the daily quests but something if you've got 10 minutes spare to just log on, send the crew out on scavenging missions and then pop into a couple of ship quests before signing back out.

Something Fishy

This is such a shame. I'm getting really bored of it already.

I so wanted to love it, Kotor is my favourite game. The perfect combination of RPG and Star Wars lore and it was just brilliant.

This sadly though is just an MMO when it comes down to it and i find the grind so boring. I would like to see the story through but it seems fairly thin and is diluted by so many dull side quests, voiced they may be but they add nothing to it. It really just feels like a normal grindy mmo with the story tacked onto it.

Probably going to be one of the most disappointing directions a franchise has taken for me. Just wish they'd done a Kotor 3.

Its more of a level treadmill than a grind, though there's little difference from a boredom perspective.

Yeah i suppose that's right. I'm not too up on the MMO terminology. I've never really been able to stick with one since Galaxies (and that was probably only because it was my first and all felt fresh and interesting at the time).

It is a bit boring. Well, at the mo very boring.

You know that episode of South Park Make Love Not Warcraft where they stay in the newbie area killing boars to level themselves up?

That is the very definition of grinding.
