Nope. I haven't done placements with Ryu and it shows me as new challenger as in Casual.

It's actually quite impressive how cack I am at this

I find it really hard to keep pressure on and get the sense I'm incredibly easy to read.

It's when you keep making the same mistake over and over that gets me. Like I keep doing Drive Impact and leaving myself open in the middle of matches.

Been playing the series with a learning mindset for like 12 years and still do stuff like that.

Sometimes you just want to unga bunga and hit stuff.

I have massive respect for the people who can be super focused all the time.

I think I’ll probably be putting the game down by next week. I can appreciate its great and I can sort of understand the fundamentals and I’ve won a good few matches but I’ve hit a skill ceiling where I can just see that the investment to get better is just too much for me and would probably lead to more frustration than I want to endure. Not at the game just at my inability to do and read stuff.

The only aspect of it I’m disappointed by is world tour which is just a rather boring grind that I’ve quickly grown tired of. Even with only a few weeks casual play I feel like I understand fighting games a bit better now so that’s a win. I don’t see myself ever getting into one properly but this has been a fun journey.

That's cool, glad you've enjoyed. But yeah. They are a huge time investment. I'm lucky I learned them when I was younger, definitely don't have the time, willpower, or patience anymore. If you choose to watch Evo it'll at least give you a greater appreciation for the players because you have more of an understanding of the game.

I think it says a lot that I used to do this kind of thing all the time in SF4, but this is the only time I've done it in SF6

Saved it straight away because it reminded me of when I used to have fast reactions

I reached Platinum and got my arse kicked a few times and back town to Gold 5. I had heard you couldn't de-rank. I must have misunderstood something.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Unless something has changed, it definitely didn't seem like I was de-ranking when I got to Gold.

I really hope I can get some time on this again this weekend. Decorating the bedroom completely pulled me away from this and then I've been replaying the DMC series ever since getting myself set up again

You can't drop a category (e.g. Gold -> Silver) when you're in Gold or below. Once you're in Platinum or above you can.

 I sympathise! I like watching fighting games but I'm also very bad when it comes to playing!

I think you have to improve in steps. At my very basic level, I have more fun keeping it simple and using the modern controls autocombos. If you knock them to their knees with a Drive Impact you can use the heavy autocombo and it will even do your super for you at the end. I won't win Evo but I might win a few matches and get to Bronze, you know? :shifty:

I still need to get back on it. Keep getting distracted.
