Went to see Sons of East on Saturday in the O2 Institute, an Australian indie band that I've loved ever since I first happened upon them on Spotify. They were excellent live but it was quite an odd gig-they're quite mellow and folk/country influenced-acoustic guitars, banjos, harmonies etc but the crowd was fully of middle aged people who had been clearly drinking all day at Pride in Birmingham so was rowdy as strawberry float.
The guitarist at 1 point said he'd met someone at 11am on their way to a rave and asked if that was normal for here
But yeah, venue was brilliant-it was 1 of the smaller stages in the O2 Institute so only a few hundred people. Great acoustics and a great view of the band. Nothing like seeing a band you love in those circumstances. Even if you have to listen to a couple of old drunken farts next to you argue for the first 45 minutes over strawberry float knows what
