a large part of the DS audience is kids and I don't think enough parents are willing or able to spend £300 (with a couple of games) on a kid's birthday/Christmas present.

Given that Nintendo themselves have said that kids under the age of 6 shouldn't be playing it shows that they're moving away a bit from that segment of the market.

I'd have thought children aged 6-15 or whenever parents stop buying games is and always has been Nintendo's core market.

Also when did Nintendo say that? Is it because 3D is untested on young children and could damage their eyes? Or another reason?
