I have a well paid job, but anything above £220 is too much in my eyes.

Surely it won't be that high. I was really hoping for < €250, I might not be picking it up on launch day if it's much higher.

I think €250 too :D

Date? I dunno, March......sometime. Does Nintendo like to launch on a particular day of the week?

Price? £199.99.

UK shops are now taking pre-orders for Nintendo's 3DS console, and have listed unconfirmed release dates and pricing for the handheld.

TheHut, WHSmith, Best Buy UK and Woolworths all peg the 3DS for release on 18th March if you pre-order or 25th March otherwise for an eye-watering £299.93. They each list the 3DS in blue, black and red.

ASDA has the 3DS down for 18th March, but fails to offer a price.

Nintendo is yet to price or date the 3DS for Europe, although we know it'll be released on these shores in March. The company is expected to make a raft of 3DS-related announcements at an Amsterdam event next week.

Don't post about costs in the other thread. :x

That can't be true. It'd be £100 cheaper just to buy it from Japan/probably cheaper in America too. :lol: :lol: :lol:

WHSmith, Best Buy and Woolworths now taking pre-orders on new handheld
A number of sites have gone live with pre-orders for the Nintendo 3DS, with a placeholder price of £299 having been put in place.
Eurogamer spotted the listings on The Hut, WHSmith, Best Buy and Woolworths. What the site didn't note, though, is that all of these portals are run from The Hut's centralised system, effectively meaning it's a single listing.
Other retailers are yet to go live with a price.
Play.com and Amazon are allowing visitors to register their interest while GAME and others simply have placeholder page in place.
Concrete launch details for the machine will be unveiled next Wednesday at Nintendo's Amsterdam event. MCV has been lead to believe that the console will arrive in the UK on or around March 25th with a shelf price of £200-£230.

Mathematics says:

Code: Select all

DS    = £99.99
3(DS) = 3(£99.99)
3DS   = £299.97

The 3DS isn't half a console, its a whole console, infact its a whole handheld console, which by rights should cost more really if you think about it logically.

Thinking about it, the 3DS will be the first 3D handheld without glasses and it is Nintendo, so it will be quality, so a £279.99 pricepoint is not out of the question, but I expect it to include something for 'free'.

I'll find anything over £200 hard to swallow, to be honest. The closer it gets to £250 the more likely I am to hold off, as I just can't afford it being a poor student. It's a recession, people are spending less, and the currency is down the hole. Nintendo directly converting the price and doing their usual "adding a bit on the top" would end up making the thing massively expensive outside of Japan. Taking a hit on the price and making it back on software, which it's bound to do looking at the crazy sales of DS software, would be the easiest way to offset the currency burden.

Anyway, does anyone how much a DSi trades in for at the likes of GAME at the moment? I'm hoping to get at least £50 for it, with them hopefully doing a deal if you trade in for the 3DS.

I wonder if Nintendo will react if Sony price the PSP2 super aggressively?
