Except the PC is clearly far superior in every possible way.

Look, if you want to reduce what is a perfectly valid topic of argument and discussion to some wimpy, anodyne statement like 'they are both great' then this entire thread is an utterly redundant gesture, intended for clueless little girls, which serves no purpose whatsoever. It clearly is not the case that both platforms are great. One is far more powerful than the other, more scalable and offers cheaper per-game cost savings than the other. That is a fact. Avoid the arguments and lets have hugs all round, if you like, but I thought the title of this thread is 'The PC vs Console Thread'.

If you're not too afraid of a good argument get in and tell me why I'm wrong. If you don't think we should be arguing about this stuff f*ck off out of it and leave it those of us with a few convictions and a set of balls to match. Some days you lot sound like a bunch of politically-correct automatons - 'Oh, we can't possibly have a real argument, we might hurt someone's feelings...'

I think I can sum this up quite easily.

Your typical PC gamer probably looks something like this:
Image
He is someone who probably spends most of his cash on games, graphics cards and other hardware. Knows his way around a PC and is comfortable building hardware from scratch. This person won't be fazed by any of the problems of PC gaming, because they know how to fix any issue fairly easily. In fact they probably enjoy doing so. They also like how you can mod games. I think its fair to say they probably have little to no social life other than their online buddies. They probably also think, who needs sex, when my gaming rig can play all the porn I want. In 3D no less....In other words an utter geek.

Now your console gamer probably looks like this:
Image

Still a bit geeky no doubt, but gaming isn't their life. Probably don't care that they aren't playing cutting edge technology as it's all just a bit of a laugh with mates and that. Banta innit. They also don't have enough time to sort out any problems with the hardware and more to the point wouldn't want to.

PC's aren't too great for local multiplayer.

Apart from the morbidly obese photo, not a bad summation. I'm not sure I could build a gaming rig from scratch, but I'm fairly handy with day-to-day maintenance and like to know what's in my rig and how it could be improved. Always amazes me when I ask friends how much RAM their PC has and all I get is a blank stare. How can people not even know such basic stuff? Guess that's the PC geek in me.

Morons, then. Morons who don't appreciate the technology, the art or even the games. Makes you wonder why they even bother.

Bit judgmental. Games are fun and I'm sure thats why most people play them.

Games arent for fun.

Games are for winning.

Test yourself in the ever changing and constantly moving battlefield of mental torment.

Games arent for fun.

If we could just have the return of civility when the discussion turns into PC Vs Console it would make a huge difference.

I really feel that you're kind of forgetting that any argument on forums removes all sense of civility. Have you seen the PS3 vs 360 arguments here over the years? Most of it boils down to Rik being a massive troll, but there's always hostility when two factions have an argument on the forum.

Just because this is online doesn't mean civility should be thrown out the window. It's entirely possible to have a decent discussion without the anger and abuse that's thrown around here so often these days.

God damn youre a strawberry floating douchebag. The bottom line is PC and consoles are both great. I have a PC for strawberry floating about playing games you just wont get on consoles like Arma 2, at proper high resolutions (no cal, 1024x768 isnt proper high res for gaming), and for modding the living gooseberry fool out of existing games like GTA4. Then i have a console for amazing exclusives you wont get on PC like Flower, Rez, or just regular exclusives like Gears.
Just because the PC is the superior platform doesnt mean theres no room for consoles. And your attempts at acting like a pc supremacist are a strawberry floating joke when a few months ago you thought gaming in 4:3 on medium settings was the THE strawberry floating FUTURE. tl:dr youre giving PC gamers a bad name, stop it, go back to being a Peter Crisp, it suited you better.

It's not just Rik and Silva. There's many other people who spark arguments on here and it's always been the same. It's not something that was created by these console vs PC debates. They've been going on for as long as I can remember on GR. Not saying it's a good thing, but it can't be helped. There is a massive clash of personalities on this forum.

Pick the games you want to play, then pick the hardware. Doing it in reverse is a little baffling.
PC vs Consoles is as irrelevent a discussion as the PC vs Portable Consoles or NES vs iOS.
