I can't believe The Shield is over. :( Truly one of the best shows ever made.

Finale thoughts...
Shane's murder-suicide scene was very hard to watch. It was incredibly well done. His son holding the little toy truck in his hand... :( Must've been doubly hard to film for Walton Goggins, after what happened to his real-life wife a few years ago. And Claudette reading his suicide note to Vic at the Barn was very moving,

And poor Ronnie. :( He'll probably get murdered on the inside by someone working on behalf of Antwon Mitchell.

I like that they left Vic's ending open to interpetation. Where was he going with that gun? Off to search for his family? To kill himself? Fleeing to Mexico or somewhere?
He is one cold bastard, though. Not a single tear. He's a pure sociopath. Remorseless to the core. The true villain of the show.

My only gripe with the finale was the fact that nothing became of Dutch's storyline with the kid. That kinda sucked. I wanted closure, dammit!

I'm sad it's over but by god did they make that the best final series ever. There was not a single way that final series failed to live up to expectation and they went out the best way possible, with a big strawberry floating BANG.

I dont know why, but that sounds strawberry floating incredible.

Lots of really sad moments in this finale. I felt really sorry for Shane especially when Vic threatened to visit his kid while he was in jail.

I also felt sad for Ronnie when Shane died and he thought he was now free, not realising that Vic had already confessed. Had Vic not done so then they would both have got away with everything.

Vic ending up behind a desk for three years does seem like torture for Vic, but compared to the alternative of life in prison it's not that harsh a punishment really. His family going into witness protection is the real punishment.

I like what they did with the 'Andre 3000' guy. Last time we saw him he was squirting prostitutes outside his shop with a hose and now he's running for mayor. Was it actually Aceveda that shot him? I didn't quite understand that bit, i'll have to watch it again.

Dutch and the serial killer kid (that sounds like a show right there  ) was played out in a more realistic way than many were expecting. I'm glad they didn't have the kid kill Dutch as that would have been a little far-fetched especially on the same day as everything else happening.

Loved the end credits.

Great end to a great show.

Even Aceveda wouldn't have done that.

Vic cried on at least two occasions in that episode: after hearing the suicide note and at the end. Shane was more of a villian in that ep than Vic. He killed his family for entirely selfish reasons. He thought his kids would be better off dead than hearing what their parents did? Please.

'Twas a great conclusion but I was disappointed they didn't resolve Dutch's story better.

You obviously don't know what crying actually is. The reason for the extreme close-ups was to show that he wasn't crying. I was watching a 700mb file of the episode, though, so I imagine the video quality was a lot better than what you saw on ninjavideo.

His eyes were watering.

Those could be technically classified as spoilers but they still prove me right. You can see the liquid there.

My vote goes to there being no tears, as a previous poster said, the point in the close up was to demonstrate that he wasn't crying, although admittedly it did look like he was going to at one point.

I've always loved Vic, but in the end he really did turn into the villain of the piece (especially considering the way he let Ronnie take the fall).

And where was he going with the gun?

Thoughts on the final scene
My feeling was that his shift is over and he's off out into the night to bust some heads like the old days. That's all he has left.

The words "Family meeting" will resonate in my head for a long long time. Also how awesome was that Concrete Blondes song at the end?

A brilliant finale.
