From Yuji Naka and SEGA :fp:

The teaser site from Prope(Yuji Naka's new studio) is open and in 10 days they will reveal their debut game that even penguins can play......so a Wii game then?

I don't think it's a good thing that your game is so rudimentary a dumb bird can play it.

Naka's lost it, what was the last good game he worked on?

He made Billy Hatcher, right?

Maybe it's a spiritual-sequel (starring penguins) where you have to sit on the Balance Board for weeks in order to hatch your eggs.

Hey, nothing wrong with Nintendo trying to extend their target audience even further.

Pen Pen Tricelon 2 for the Wiii?

I realsie he didn't make the first but how many games star penguins?.
Or how about a DS RTS game where you control a group of penguins using the mic by making Penguin noises? No, that'd be shite. :|

My kids were playing the original the other day, it's totally bonkers but great fun.

Well thats my DS penguin RTS idea gone to hell then. Why do they say penguins though, maybe the main interaction with the game is something that penguins can easily replicate? Maybe because Penguins can't really grip things it won't use the Wiimote or Nunchuk? I know when they walk they kinda lean side to side so maybe it's some sort of Balance board game controlled by leaning left to right? A platformer like DK: Jungle Beat using the balance board for controls?

It's obviously the penguin mini-game from Wii Fit expanded into a full product.

Naka's spoken about how much he loves the Wii remote though - I'd be surprised if it's a balance board game (though it may offer that as a control option, perhaps).

Maybe the penguins can play if you strap the remote to their heads?

What did you see? I saw some office chairs, some comfy chairs and what looked like an office view of a bullet train.

Sega Unveils Let's Tap

Remember how confused you were when Sega opened up a teaser website for a game which appeared to take pride in the fact that it could be played by a penguin? Surely this was some sort of lost in translation scenario, right?

Apparently not. Today, Sega shared the identity of the mystery game. Titled Let's Tap, it appears that this game will be played without holding the controller.

At least, that's what Yuji Naka, head of developer Prope (and also one of the main forces behind Sonic, Nights and other Sega classics) implies in this introductory blurb at the re-opened site: "I've been making games for 25 years. At last, I've made a game that can be played without holding a controller."

The site shows an inverted Wiimote on the ground, and has a high-paced beat as background music. We're going to speculate that you play the game by doing something to the Wiimote with your foot -- perhaps tapping the giant B button?

More details will be available in 7 days when the site sees its full unveil.

Let's Tap is listed at the site as having the genre "Tap Action" and being playable by between 1 and 4 players (although the site also lists the possibility of infinite players). A Japanese release is set for December.

So Music rhythm games are going from full instruments, to Wiimotes, to tapping a single button? Why not just start listening to music and not have to do anything! Full circle!

I am loving the art style on this game, so it will be interesting to see how it all pans out. I still think it would be better suited to DS.
