Did they? I never used to buy Edge at the time, so I wouldn't know. What did they give it?

Don't see what the problem is: It's a perfectly cromulent word.

Until EA's tennis game unleashes Motion+ on everybody's asses.

Just as publishers seem to be finally capitalising on the impact of Wii Sports (see the current glut of tennis and boxing games) here comes a new piece of technology!

Words like that totally embiggen me.

And I can't remember. I just remember the word "bucolic" because I made someone laugh by saying it meant "like broccoli".

Nintendo Europe press release:

Captain Olimar and co. return in the latest instalment in Wii's NEW PLAY CONTROL! range - NEW PLAY CONTROL! Pikmin 2. Introducing a series of changes that build on the original Nintendo GameCube title, NEW PLAY CONTROL! Pikmin 2 arrives on Wii complete with a new control scheme that makes directing Pikmin easier than ever, as well as an improved 16:9 display and gameplay alterations to enhance the experience.

Thanks to the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, controlling Olimar, Louie, and the Pikmin under their command is now a more intuitive experience. Moving the Nunchuk Control Stick will direct Olimar and Louie, while simply pointing the Wii Remote at the screen will determine the position of your on-screen cursor. This makes the process of directing Pikmin, calling them to your side or highlighting a target for them to turn their attention to extremely straightforward. Special items like Ultra-Bitter Spray and Ultra-Spicy Spray are now easier to use as well – just aim your cursor at the relevant point on screen and press the 1 Button on the Wii Remote to put them to use.

Players of the original Pikmin 2 on GameCube will also notice that NEW PLAY CONTROL! Pikmin 2 features a modified game camera, which lets them see more of their surroundings and offers a clearer overview of any trouble they might be about to run into!

Keep an eye on the official Nintendo of Europe website for more details on how NEW PLAY CONTROL! Pikmin 2 takes Olimar’s adventures to a whole new level!

NEW PLAY CONTROL! Pikmin 2 is out 24 April, only on Wii.

Chibi Robo Detailed

The next round of New Play Control games is on the way in Japan. While we don't have final dates yet, Chibi Robo and Metroid Prime 2 Dark Echoes appear to have the honors, as both are featured in this week's Famitsu.

The big news is Chibi Robo. While the game was announced as a New Play Control game from the start, the magazine got the scoop on the changes Nintendo is working on for the Wiimake.

You'll be controlling key parts of the game directly with the Wiimote. You can now point at items and people. Do so and the game unleashes a sound, meaning this feature can be used as an indicator of what can be touched and picked up by Chibo Robo. The pointer can also be used to control your viewpoint and make selections from menus.

Wiimote controls have also bee implemented for your Chibi Tools -- the items Chibi picks up to perform chores around the house. These items are controlled directly by shaking and moving the Wiimote.

As for Metroid Prime 2, the magazine doesn't share specifics on what's changed for the New Play Control version, although at the very least, we presume the game will mimic the motion-based controls of the first Metroid Prime New Play Control update.

Both Metroid Prime 2 and Chibi Robo are due for Japanee release some time this year.

Good sense from Nintendo. We need more things like this.
