Daredevil - I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this film. Part of me hates. Most of it is ridiculous and pretty rubbish. But the occasional scene comes along that I like.

I read this on IMDB: "The film was originally envisioned as R-rated with nudity and hard violence." Should have went with that tbh.

The Departed 6/10

I can see why it got an Oscar, but I found it so utterly pointless in a way that didn't really deliver - like it does in Reservoir Dogs or Lucky Number Slevin. Plus a couple of gaping plot holes that suggested an alternative ending that never got explored. Still, enjoyable and very well made, but certainly no masterpiece.

Paranormal Activity. Was really looking forward to this but a huge let down for me. It just wasn't scary and I had no connection or empathy with the characters. There seemed to be far too many REC rip off moments as well.

5/10.

Death Note - 7/10

I expected a terrible film, thanks to the insightful review by Fruits Punch Samurai, but I was pleasantly surprised. The actual idea of the Death Note is amazing, the film had a couple of genius ways of doing what it did, getting the FBI guy to kill all his fellow agents was brilliant. Sure the CGI on the weird death god was a bit weak, but I'd put that more down to budget and Japanese style. Same goes with the acting, it's not going to win any Oscars, but it did the job of keeping me entertained until 2am, I genuinely wanted to see it through to the end to find out what happens.

Very good. Ickle bit sad. Scarey too.

I saw this last night, and while I wouldn't give it a 9, it is a very nice film. Such a sad ending though

Death Note (1st movie) - 6/10, a decent attempt at making a live-action version of the series, but still lacking compared to the manga/anime.

Didnt stay up to watch the 2nd movie

Watchmen

I actually like it, thought it was enjoyable from start to finish. The only problem is that I feel that the character developments are a bit lacklustre.

3 out of 5.

Zombieland - 9/10

I watched this with the missus last night and spent the whole time laughing my ass off. Woody Harrelson is the man. I also loved the cameo. I had heard Bill Murray had a small cameo but I had not heard how bloody funny it was.

My kids were saying "They're all saved!" at the end. I think I need to explain what ghosts are again...

Once Upon A Time In America

It envokes a sense of nostailga that very few films can match (only Cinema Paradiso springs to mind), it's strange because the gangster theme, the setting, the costumes, the way characters speak is cliched but it fells more like a strength than a weakness just hightening the sense of nostailga. It's a gangster film that really hasn't got anything to do with gansters, they are merely the backdrop to a story of friendship, lies, regret and the passage of time. I do think that the scenes with the younsters are the best and that the second half meanders along with a messy narrative. It's a film that I think I prefer to discuss than watch with parts of the film being left very open. I've seen it a few times now and I'm still not entirely sure what I think of it overall. I do like the idea that everything after Max's attempted robbery on the bank is an opium dream and that Max did actually die during the robbery, though I will admit that the ending of Max ending up in the trash (was he assasinated or did he throw himself in? I like to think it's the latter) doesn't sit quite right with that theory.

I prefer Leone's earlier films but it's a fascinating one without a doubt.

Good Hair.

Interesting, eye opening, funny, but ultimately, depressing (not that I'm marking it down for that).

I knew people were shallow, but holy gooseberry fool.

2012 - good film once you get past the usual cheese factor that tends to link themselves to disaster movies. Great special effects but it is completely over the top.
