Time for a round of the scores and a new album yet?

I think I'd give the album a 6/10. I really didn't enjoy it at first, but it grew on me a bit throughout the listen, and was better second time around. Don't think it's a band I'd be listening to again though. Favourite song was Rainbow.

In.

Just stuck Thee Oh Sees on now...

Edit: Nothing really stood out for me and I don't think I'd listen to it again but it was OK as a bit of background music. 6/10

Just a quick observation: Thee Oh Sees is much better with marijuana.

Solid 8/10

Not normally the sort of music I'd ever listen to but I liked it quite a lot. Maybe not something I'd get into in the future but it was definitely worth a listen.

7/10

Thee Oh Sees, Help - 7.5/10

I likez. Has that garagey/crampsesque sound. Really need to listen to it a few more times but dosed with the flu/cold and can't be arsed doing anything at mo. Ruby Go Home, Meat Step Lively and Destroyed Fortress Reappears were me faves.

Yep. I listened this morning, but I'll give it another listen tonight. For the time being I'll round up the other scores and pick someone else in a min.

First post updated. The Christmas names made it a bit tricky so let me know if I've missed anyone out.

Next pick is Superking.

No sign of Superking at the moment.

New pick -> Hans Rickman*. Superking can go after if he's back online.

*I think that's Corazon...

It certainly is. I'll post up in a couple of minutes when I make sure I still have the album I want to subject you all to.

EDIT: OK, here goes. It's reasonably easy to find, and something a little bit different. I give you the closest thing you'll find to an alt-metal supergroup; A Perfect Circle. The album is called Thirteenth Step.

It's available on Spotify, I've just checked. I don't know how to add it to the playlist though, as I haven't used Spotify regularly at all.

Is that the one with Judith on it? I quite like that song.

A Perfect Circle : Thirteenth Step - 6/10

So can I start off by saying I was really not looking forward to this. I'm not a metal fan at all, and when I did a bit of Wiki'ing and found out that the group includes the singer of Tool (who I detest), I was a bit put off. But I'll give anything a chance, and I put the record on. The first track is incredible. I mean, I was seriously blown away. Completely unexpected, and I was really impressed. Unfortunately the rest of the record was a bit samey. There was one other track which stood out, 'The Nurse Who Loved Me', and the rest was, well, OK. But considering I thought it was just going to be a load of scutter, not bad at all.

A Perfect Circle - Thirteenth Step
I've never listed to these guys before so I didn't really know what to expect. I loved the first 4 minutes of the first track and was all ready to add the album to my favourites, but then it goes all loud metal and stays like that for the rest of album with a small breather at Crimes and The Nurse Who Loved Me. After such a great opening I was disappointed with the rest of the album, but I might check out some of their other albums.

I loved Mer de Noms, but never really got into Thirteenth Step. Maybe it's time to revisit it.

It certainly is Rinks. I find it to be pretty underrated by people who don't know much about A Perfect Circle or Tool.

I'm trying really hard not to take that as an insult.
